Possible to still get all the wordsearch resources on a flash drive?

Hi,

There was time when you could get all your books etc from wordsearch sent to you on flash drive so that you did not have to download them. Is that still possible? my goal is to have a backup all my resources. I do have the main program setup file saved, but it relies on all the books being downloaded from the wordsearch server and I know that will not always be there. Or conversely is there a way to make a back up of the entire wordearch library on my PC so that I can re-install my library from a file on my PC in the event of a hard drive crash or some other problem? I know I can do an image, and I have done that with Acronis, but  I really want to have a stand alone way to re-install wordearch if possible without having to re-install my entire pc .

Thanks,

Patrick

    Hi,

You can copy your  "Cross shared" directory to any thumb or external, or internal drive to save everything but the program itself.  You can go into settings and edit the "path" to  have the program find your library anywhere you put it.

In other words, saving a complete usable copy of Wordsearch is very easy.  You can migrate to a new computer simple by coping the "Cross shared" folder mentioned above.

Ps.  I don't know if your Wordsearch folder is named the same as mine, but if not, you can find it by looking at the path settings in "Settings"

Be sure to back up your ownership of your books by doing a backup under the options tab.

    God Bless,

  • This has been so helpful, I was able to install my Wordsearch 12 onto my surface Pro, everything, but I do have one problem unlocking my books, I saw your reference on backing up, I did that on the previously Windows PC to my hard drive and I screen shot the path.

Is this folder transferable, will using it give me the permissions to unlock my books on my Surface tablet?  If not do you have any suggestions.  Currently when I go to the library, they all have lock photos.

another concern is when I open Wordsearch on my Surface it says 30 days to register, will this be satisfied by installing from the "Backups" folder

The path on my PC reads: C:/users\Bias\onedrive\Documents\WordSearch Backups\Wordsearch 12

Note: I do have Logos and my books are there, I've just gotten so used to the Wordsearch interface

If you have a backup, try restoring the information in:

    • C:\ProgramData\WORDsearch\Global Data\
    • C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Local\Wordsearch 12

It looks like the data associated with the ActiveUserID is stored in

    • C:\ProgramData\WORDsearch\Global Data\LocalLogins.db3
    • C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Local\Wordsearch 12\Wordsearch 12.ini

Hello, In WORDsearch you have the option to "Backup" your user information.

    Go to Options\Backup

Save your data in a good location and copy the file to your new computer. Then go into WORDsearch and go to:

    Options\Restore

To Bill Fritz, I have found on one of my old computers, Word Search 9. Does and will your suggestion work with just doing a " Backup" and a " Restore" on the new computer. I hope it is. I have a huge library and me and Logos do not see things that same say. To me, there is no

comparison, Word Seach is so easy to use. Hope you can help me or somone else. Please be specific and write it out step by step for I am a

dummy if it gets very detailed. WE need to find a way to do this for so many that want Word Search over Logos. thanks

WE need to find a way to do this for so many that want Word Search over Logos.

I hope you are successful in getting your beloved WordSearch up and running. But I want to warn you that there will be a point in the future where hardware will no longer run a compatible operating system. You'll want to be prepared to maintain a particular system for years, as some here have done to keep their beloved Libronix alive.
