Sync between Android and PC

Hi everyone,

I'm running Logos 9 on my PC and Samsung Tab, the problem I'm having is that my reading plans are not syncing across both platforms. If I use the PC to read a Bible passage, and then shut the PC down and go to bed and to continue reading on my tab, I have to hunt for where I was and Visa Versa.

If I understand your issue correctly, this is not a "sync" issue, but rather a misunderstanding of how FL's current implementation of layouts works. FL (rightfully or wrongfully) assumes that wherever you leave off on computer one, you want to be when you return.

If you want your reading plan book to be on the same page across devices, you will have to do the following:

    • Not have the layout open on computer 2
    • Use the resource on computer 1
    • Save the layout on computer 1
    • Open the layout on computer 2

There are two other options: 1) you can have whatever layout open you want on computer 1 & 2 so long as you close the resource. If the resource is open on a device, it will be where you left off on that device. 2) you can use the reading plan document to open the resource to the next reading. This would work and be useful as long as you completed the previous reading on the other computer.

JT, I don't think we have layouts on mobile apps like those on the PC, so I am not understanding your suggestion.

Nord, thank you for that, as I have been hunting for the layouts option on my Tablet/Mobile, which I haven't been able to find. From what I'm understanding it's not possible to do what I was hoping for.

This info is drastically important to know, assuming it's accurate. I worry that Notes I create in one setting are getting lost when switching from one platform to another.

    It is accurate.

It is completely unrelated to notes. The discussion is about sync location on a resource.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I am not a windows or an Android user. However, the principle is exactly the same.

Make sure that the resource is not open on the mobile device. When you open it from the library, it should open to where it was left off (across devices).

Sorry for the confusion (see above).

There <are> layouts on mobile, but they do not sync to desktop.

Desktop syncs to Desktop, Mobile syncs to Mobile (...or at least should, or at least should on a similar device).

Layouts on mobile are found in the tabs browser. NOTE: "Layouts" on mobile means something different than "layouts" on desktop. On mobile, it more closely means "a collection of resources open in tabs."

    Hi JT,

Thank you for that, now I understand things correctly from reading the above answers.

So there is no cross platform linking, which is a pity though. As I read just as much on my PC, as I do on the Mobile device. [Y]

You <can> sync the location data, you just have to do it with the steps mentioned above. It can be a hassle, but for some users it is worth it.

For the record, I have long been a proponent of FL creating something called "projects" which would include a fix for this very issue.
