the first one has no content (maybe it can be deleted)What has and lacks content depends on what is in your Library. The more resources you own, the more content there will be in (your) Factbook as a whole. As such, you (and I) aren't in a position to suggest deleting an article simply because it is empty (but possibly for other reasons, as is evident from earlier posts in this thread).
Yes that's right! The reason for deleting the first entry is rather the typo. The second entry with the same name can then remain.
Duplicate entries & typos in Factbook: list here
It's obvious from looking at the Factbook, which is drawn from many different sources, that many duplicate entries have been merged and lots of things have been fixed.
Some duplicates and other errors remain.
We might as well consolidate ones we notice in a single thread.
I'll start:
1. John Milbank & John Milbank (Anglican Theologian) (bio.johnmilbank & bk.%25JohnMilbank_Person)
2. Vincent Ferrer should be "Saint Vincent Ferrer". (bio.saintvincentferrer)
3. John Ireland & John Ireland (Roman Catholic leader) (bio.JohnIreland & bk.%25JohnIreland1.Person)
4. William James & William James (American Pragmatist philosopher) (bio.WilliamJames & bk.%25WilliamJames_Person) [Also typo: "devleoped"]
5. There are a lots of entries with "SJ" as a middle name; they're all wrong. Those are all Jesuits, and SJ is their postnomial. This also occurs with other religious orders/congregations, with post-nomials that include "OP" and "OFM", as well as "CP" & "CSB" & "OFS" (one each). Note that sometimes the postnomials in Factbook are "Op" or "Ofs", etc.
[If you're wondering how to get the funky bio.whatever/bk.%whatever and such, which presumably has no duplicates, it's the article reference available by clicking on the three dots followed by "Information" to see the citation data.]

Merge the Factbook entries with all the related dictionary articles on Azazel and Scapegoat.
Logos has Azazel listed as both a place and a Supernatural being but the dictionary articles are discussing the various possibilities of meaning together. It would be helpful to have ONE Factbook entry with all the dictionary articles on the topic in one place.
Azazel (place): https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bk.%25Azazel
Azazel (Supernatural being): https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bk.%25Azazel_Deity
Scapegoat: https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bk.%25scapegoat
It's interesting that the same New Interpreter's Dictionary article on Azazel is included in all three Factbook entries. Perhaps that's an indication that the entries should be merged since they cover the same topic, which references the same biblical passage (Leviticus 16).
It would be helpful to have ONE Factbook entry with all the dictionary articles on the topic in one place.
As the factbook is tied to tagging, I would not like to see the person and the place combined. I consistently prefer greater granularity and consistency in criteria for distinctions. I know this is not always the Faithlife position.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Perhaps the Scapegoat and the place should be combined since Azazel could either refer to the goat itself or the destination of the goat (whether where or to whom), and the supernatural being kept separate since it also refers to the figure in Enoch (even though some believe that Azazel in Leviticus and Azazel in Enoch are the same spiritual entity).
But it would be nice to have all of the dictionary articles that deal with all three possibilities aligned to each Factbook entry. Then a person can see all the articles with the full discussion of options for meaning regardless of what they clicked on or typed in to get to the Factbook. I'm trying to think of things in terms of how the end user is using the software versus how a developer is thinking about the data.
I just think it's weird for the Dictionary of Deities and Demons article to not show up under supernatural being Factbook entry. That's literally what that dictionary is for, to discuss supernatural beings. AYBD should be aligned to all three as well since it discusses the all possibilities in one article:
[quote]
AZAZEL [Heb ʿăzāʾzēl (עֲזָאזֵל)]. The destination or goal to or for which the scapegoat is sent on the Day of Atonement (Lev 16:8, 10, 26).
...
A. The Term
The meaning of the term ʿăzāʾzēl is not entirely clear. The main interpretations are: (a) It is the name of a demon (e.g., Delcor 1976: 35–37; Loretz 1985: 50–57; Tawil 1980). (b) It is a geographical designation meaning something like “precipitous place” or “rugged cliff” (Sipra, Aḥare Mot 2:8; Tg. Ps.-J. Lev 16:10, 22; Driver 1956: 97–98). (c) It is an abstract noun meaning “destruction” or “entire removal” (e.g., BDB 736). (d) It is made up of the terms ʾēz ʾōzēl “goat that goes (away)” and is a description of the dispatched goat (cf. the LXX, Vg; it is from this interpretation that we get our term “scapegoat”).

I agree that there appear to be errors in the alignment of the dictionaries to Factbook.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
"J. Vernon McGee" and "Vernon Vernon McGee" likely the same person, the second one being a typo of the first one.
There's a error in the tagging of the word 'earth' in Psalms of Solomon 17:20 that is creating an anomaly in the Ezekiel factbook entry. The first occurrence of the word 'earth' in that verse is tagged as <Person Ezekiel>, which is causing the Ezekiel factbook entry to show that 'earth' (gk: γῆ) is one of the ways that Ezekiel is referred to.
I reported this problem here: https://community.logos.com/forums/t/209884.aspx
Ezekiel entry: https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bk.%23Jehezkel.2
According to Feldman, Louis H., James L. Kugel, and Lawrence H. Schiffman, eds. Outside the Bible: Ancient Jewish Writings Related to Scripture: Translation. Vol. 1–3. 3 vols. Philadelphia: The Jewish Publication Society, 2013. the records for Angelic Liturgy and Songs of the Sabbath Sacrifice refer to the same text.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
At least in Verbum 10.0, the Factbook entry for Pope Benedict XVI, https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bk.%25PopeBenedictXVI_Person, is now only showing me a few non-English books that I don't own under Works, rather than all of the works by him that are in the catalogue.
“The trouble is that everyone talks about reforming others and no one thinks about reforming himself.” St. Peter of Alcántara
Is the record "Slavonic Acts of Peter" intended to be the "Slavonic Act of Peter" (singular)? and is the record "Act of Peter" intended to have a secondary title "Coptic Act of Peter". Note neither question is to be confused with the Greek etc. Acts of Peter (plural) -- a different work.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

It's the same in Logos 9.17 (the Factbook itself wouldn't be different, would it?)
This looks like someone merged Ratzinger with Benedict and mistakenly threw out all non-Spanish works? I do hope those things will be fixed.
Have joy in the Lord!
This looks like someone merged Ratzinger with Benedict and mistakenly threw out all non-Spanish works?
Threw them clean out of Factbook, it appears. I can't find Factbook articles for any of the missing works by Pope Benedict XVI. Likewise for a number of other books, but not all. (Nor does there seem to be a 1:1 relationship between an author's work not being findable and not appearing under Works in the author's own Factbook article.)
“The trouble is that everyone talks about reforming others and no one thinks about reforming himself.” St. Peter of Alcántara
"Unprofitable Servant" renders no results, and should rather be an alias of "Unworthy Slaves".
https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bk.%25SacramentReconciliation desperately needs Also:Confession (and/or Also:Sacrament of Confession) added, given that most English-speaking Catholics (and others) looking for a Factbook article on that sacrament will search for "Confession" and find only a Factbook article about the more general act of confessing sins... nothing about the sacrament in question.

Duplicates:
Association of Vineyard Churches
and
Vineyard Christian Fellowships
I think the second one is deprecated.
Translation error:
Rüttler (Shakers)
Since this is a name of a denomination, I doubt it should be translated at all. Please let Ben know in case he doesn't read this thread.
The tagging of "Mark" is terribly inconsistent. There are many references to the evangelist on the Factbook page for the Mark of the Beast...
Letter of Paul to the Laodiceans and Epistle to the Laodiceans refer to the same work.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
Monogenes and monogenism are not the same thing, yet all listed on the same FB page.
455. Consecrated Life - https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bk.%25consecratedLife currently has a number of references to "sanctity of life" folded in. These are two rather different things! The "sanctity of life" stuff should be attached to the Factbook article on "sanctity of life" instead.
“The trouble is that everyone talks about reforming others and no one thinks about reforming himself.” St. Peter of Alcántara
456. Nicetas of Remesiana - merge https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bio.nicetaofremesiana_1 & https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bio.nicetasremesiana
“The trouble is that everyone talks about reforming others and no one thinks about reforming himself.” St. Peter of Alcántara
457. William Barclay (New Testament Scholar) - https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bk.%25WilliamBarclay_Person needs to be examined. He is not the 16th century Scottish jurist who is the subject of the Catholic Encyclopedia article that serves as his Key Article in the Verbum version of the Factbook. That William Barclay is https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bk.%25WilliamBarclay.1_Person.
458. Blessed Bertha de Marbais (Cistercian nun) - correct title of https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bk.%25BerthaDeMarbais_Person by capitalizing "Cistercian".
“The trouble is that everyone talks about reforming others and no one thinks about reforming himself.” St. Peter of Alcántara
458. Absolute appears twice as topic
459. Angelicals are a religious order incorrectly organized as a belief
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
460. Many errors:
1. The reign of Theodosius seems out of place here
2. The rites belong here: Latin Rite, Melkite Greek Catholic Church, Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, Maronite Church (Factbook has Maronites)
3. Also in the Roman (Western Catholic) sphere are Ambrosian Rite (Factbook concept), Mozarabic Rite (Factbook concept), Gallican Rite (Factbook concept), . . .
4. Again the reign of Theodosius seems misplaced
5. Melkites are Byzantine not Roman Catholics
6-8, Syro-Malabar Catholic Church is a Syriac church not a Roman (Western) Church
9. The reign is still out of place
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
461. Ecumenical is not Protestant - think Catholic-Lutheran, Catholic-oriental orthodox, Eastern orthodox-oriental orthodox ... all of which produced influential documents.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
Ecumenical is not Protestant
Apparently there is not a consensus on who started Ecumenism, but there are some who think it was a Protestant movement originally. Factbook should note the different theories, not assert that it is a Protestant movement. When things need to be hierarchically categorized, it makes it difficult when there are differing viewpoints about what category it should fall under.
From Wikipedia's entry on Ecumenism:
One understanding of the ecumenical movement is that it came from the Catholic Church's attempts to reconcile with Christians who had become separated over theological issues.[67] Others see the 1910 World Missionary Conference as the birthplace of the ecumenical movement.[68] Others yet point to the 1920 encyclical of the Eastern Orthodox Ecumenical Patriarch Germanus V "To the Churches of Christ Everywhere" that suggested a "fellowship of churches" similar to the League of Nations.[69]
If the topic designates a specific movement at a specific time, it requires disambiguation and a broader topic added.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
462. the record for fanatacism needs the first letter capitalized at least in the TOC
463. as Mandaeism is under gnosticism; Valentinians and Sethians should also be under gnosticism
464. There are about 14 denominations of Evangelical Lutheran Church in .... but Evangelical Lutheran Church in Botswana is missing in Factbook but present in my resources.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
465. Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin - merge https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bk.%25ImmaculateConceptionOfTheBlessedVirgin & https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bk.%25immaculateConception
466. Divide https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bk.%25DormitionOfTheBlessedVirginMary into one article on the apocryphal writing and a second on the concept/doctrine.
467. Procession (liturgical) - merge https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bk.%25ProcessionLiturgical & https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bk.%25procession
468. Rename https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bk.%25ProcessionTheological "Procession (theological)" or "Procession (Trinitarian)" in order to disambiguate.
“The trouble is that everyone talks about reforming others and no one thinks about reforming himself.” St. Peter of Alcántara
469. Rename https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bk.%25FrancisOfSalzburg_Person from "Francis" to "Francis Mezger" and/to get rid of a lot of spurious references that are actually to St. Francis of Assisi.
“The trouble is that everyone talks about reforming others and no one thinks about reforming himself.” St. Peter of Alcántara
470. Peter Damian https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bk.%25SaintDamian_Person is not the Damian of Damian and Cosmas
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
Also found by MJ Smith but reported elsewhere:
471. Saint Bridget of Sweden (Birgitta) https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bk.%25SaintBridgetOfSweden_Person is not a man
Have joy in the Lord!
472. Pre-Reformation (Post-Schism) - https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bk.%25PrereformationPostschism_Denom - clearly something of a reworking of "Proto-Protestantism". What is rather problematic is the description in the article that indicates that the individuals in this category all "propagated ideas similar to Protestantism". That is manifestly false of most of the figures in this category, particularly the canonized Catholic Saints and Doctors of the Church in the list.
“The trouble is that everyone talks about reforming others and no one thinks about reforming himself.” St. Peter of Alcántara
473. John of the Cross and St. John of the Cross should be merged
474. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin as two records one with dates one without
475. Guido I has two records
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
473. John of the Cross and St. John of the Cross should be merged
No, they shouldn't, but someone from Faithlife now has, so now they need to be unmerged.
John of the Cross (Dominican writer) and St. John of the Cross are two different people! As you know, St. John of the Cross was a Discalced Carmelite.
“The trouble is that everyone talks about reforming others and no one thinks about reforming himself.” St. Peter of Alcántara
475. Guido I has two records
I do not now find any records for him, so who knows what happened? (It is helpful to include links to the specific articles you are referring to.)
For example:
474. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin as two records one with dates one without
https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bk.%25PierreTeilharddeChardin_Person & https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bio.pierreteilharddechardin_1 are indeed the same person.
“The trouble is that everyone talks about reforming others and no one thinks about reforming himself.” St. Peter of Alcántara
Not a duplicate entry, but the opposite.
The entry for "Paul Cain" has both material about the pastor Paul Cain, as well as the pulp fiction writer Paul Cain. They're not the same person.
The article on Aimee Semple McPherson has the incorrect date for her death. It says she died in 1994 instead of 1944.
476. Corrie ten Boom has two entries
