Words of Christ in red

Like some other Aussies, I don’t like the words of Christ printed in red. Can I disable this in an individual Bible, such as the CSB, which I’m currently reading?

Yes it should be in the visual filter menu in the bible. It is a three circle icon when your bible is open

It may not be immediately apparent...

1 ) Select the filters icon

2 ) Turn on "Bible text only"

3 ) Turn OFF "Bible text formatting"

4 ) If you want the other formatting retained, including paragraph layout, Turn ON the remaining options except for "One verse per line"

Note: I don't have the CSB, but in the HCSB the verse numbers themselves are red (unlike ESV) and these aren't affected by this filter, so one still sees which verses WERE red. I would consider this a bug, but since I usually have red-letter turned on it doesn't really affect me.

I don't see the verse numbers in red in either CSB or HCSB - so you might want to check if you have a Visual Filter defined that is causing this

This was not due to a Visual Filter. Are you seeing black verse numbers when red-letter is on?

Is there a Visual Filter for those Translations that do not have the words of Christ in Red?  Or can I make one myself?  And if so, what would be query for that? Thanks!

Hi Shane - and welcome to the forums

Or can I make one myself?  And if so, what would be query for that?

    The query would be {Speaker <Person Jesus>}

But this will only work for translations that have an associated Reverse Interlinear - as that is where the tagging is done

    Graham

Thank you!  I am trying to set this up for the NET 2nd Edition, which does not have the words of Christ in Red, but does have a reverse interlinear.

I tried the query string {Speaker <Person Jesus>}, but it doesn't seem to be working for me.

If (unlike your "individual Bible" request) you wish to turn of red-letter for all your bibles, this is best done in program settings. Using this method DOES result in the HCSB verse numbers turning black.

Thanks Keith, Reuben, Mike and others for the quick replies. I can’t figure out how to get to program options from the Settings asterisk. All I see is Settings for Sidebar and content.

Also, at the moment, I’m not playing with a full deck, because my modem got fried on Saturday night in a storm.

I am learning things, because I didn’t even know I could use the program without the internet.

    Thanks for your help

The settings you want in this case are resource-specific and accessed from the visual filter menu for the resource (the three circles) outlined below. Does this help?

Hope you are able to get things back to normal soon

Thanks Graham. I was wondering how to access Program Settings in the earlier screenshot, which seemed to be on the right of the Settings asterisk, or maybe a submenu of Settings.

Sorry - that's available from the Tools menu
