Feature: Print Library Catalog
Print Library Catalog
Bring the power of Logos to your print Library.
What is it?
You can add your print books (or ebooks, or library books) into your Logos library and search inside those books. When searching, you’ll see a large snippet from the book, and the location of the search result (usually a page number or reference). You can then easily find the result in your print book.
You can also add books to your Print Library Catalog by scanning the ISBN on the mobile app or searching for the book within Logos.
How to access it?
Adding books to your Print Library:

Open the Logos 10 Desktop app.

Click on the Library icon in the toolbar.

Click “Add to Library” in the top right corner

Search for the book you would like to add and click the Add to Print Library icon (the plus sign with two books on a shelf). When you hover over a book, the icon will expand to say “Add to Print Library”.
Viewing your Print Library:

Open the Logos 10 Desktop app.

Click on the Library icon in the toolbar.

Click on “Library” in the top right corner.

Expand the Filter sidebar on the left by clicking on the three horizontal lines in the top left corner.

Search “Print Library” in the Filter sidebar.

Click “In Print Library” to view the books within your Print Library or,
-
Click “Not in Print Library” to view the books that are not yet in your Print Library.
Scanning your print book ISBN:

Open the Logos 10 Desktop app.

Click on the Library icon in the toolbar.

Click “Add to Library” in the top right corner.

Click “Learn More” on the right side of the Library panel.

This will bring up a QR code. Scan the QR code on your phone to enable the Logos mobile app where you will be able to scan the ISBNs of your print books.

Searching your Print Books:
- Open the Logos 10 Desktop app.
- Open Search by clicking on the Search icon (magnifying glass) in the toolbar.
- Select "Book" to do a book search.
- Type in a word and hit Enter/Return.
- Scroll down to the "Print Books" section to see the search results for all the books in your Print Library Catalog.
Note

Print Library can only be used for books that are in the Logos catalog.

You will not be able to read their print books within Logos, but you can search them.

This is an online-only feature.

I see that I can add books to my print library that I already (also) own digitally in Logos/Verbum. What benefits are there to me for doing that? Anything that might not be immediately obvious?

You have the added benefit of a visual clue in the Library that you also own a print copy of the book, in case you wanted to grab it off the shelf for analogue reading.

I already have my print books library scanned into the website Libib. From there, I can export a CSV file with the ISBNs. It would be great if one could upload that file and have the several hundreds in my case print books added in one big batch.

The QR code doesn't seem to work when I use my camera on my iPhone. It says that it is "Scanning ISBN" but there is no bar code to scan. Please explain this feature more clearly.
I wonder if the mobile app is not updated to handle this feature.
If someone has successfully scanned a print book, I would like to see detailed information on how that was done.

Count me in! This is a wicked-way-cool feature that will greatly enhance the value of Logos for me, as I scores of print books not duplicated in Logos for which Logos editions exist. But after trying it out by adding my print-only Anchor Bible volumes from those available in Logos (woo-hoo!!), my first thought was "I hope they have a tool to just feed a text file of ISBNs into that would go find all the matches without manually searching every one to see if it's available", and my second thought was "what if I have a paperback ISBN for a book that Logos uses the hardback ISBN for? That would be a miss.".

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there doesn't seem to be an easy way to search a single book (or specific series) from my print library.
Case in point: Let's say I own a print version of Revelation by Louis Brighton which is a part of the Concordia Commentary Series. Let's say that I want to do a search for the word "lamb" to see if/where Brighton's commentary uses this word. So, like I would with my digital Logos books,
- I open a Search panel,
- choose the "Books" search type,
- type the term "lamb" into the search field box
BUT, when I try to change the search limiter to "in _____________" I find that typing the title of the commentary, the author's name, and the series title produces no results.
MEANING, that the only way to search books in the print library seems to be ALL AT ONCE by clicking the dropdown arrow beside PRINT BOOKS.
Am I missing something? Are we unable to limit our searches to specific titles/series/authors within our print library?

Update: I discovered an odd workaround that allows me to search specific print library resources:
- I open the Library panel
- Filter my view to "print library"
- Highlight the resources I want to search
- Right-click and choose search resources
When I do this, it opens a new search panel that has an extra "in ___________" field as a search limiter.
However, it raises the question: "Why can't I do this within the search panel without resorting to this cumbersome workaround?"

I think this is a bug. This selector doesn't seem to recognize the Print Library books at all.
A second workaround would be to have the book's preview open, then the book search will offer it as part of the open resources:

I think this is a bug.
Either way, we agree you should be able to search specific print library titles in Search and I know we're working on it. (Being in design, my view of things is more toward the front of the process than the end.)

I upgrade to 10 on both my Windows desktop and my Android mobile app.
On the desktop, I tried to add a print book I have that I know is in Logos, but there is no option / icon to add the book.
On the mobile app, where the scan option is supposed to appear, there is nothing.
Any suggestions? Thanks! This is such a great feature, and I am eager to use it.

Oh... that was not made clear that you needed that.
I got the Logos 10 Academic Feature Upgrade.
I just looked again, and I'm not seeing that specified. The Academic Features upgrade only has the one package option. This is a disappointment.
Thanks for making me aware of this. For a feature that is so highly touted, it should be clearer on Logos' listings.

Hi. I am getting a bit frustrated as I have followed the steps given and do not have the option of adding my books. I do not see the + sign with two books on a shelf. When I click on learn more, it does not open a QR code. What do I need to do differently to get this to work? thanks

Is there any value in scanning commentaries into this? They don't come up in the passage guide (for me anyways)......

Hello Doug - do you have the mobile app? If so, there is an option from within the app to scan into your library. That seems to be the simplest......
