I was mildly annoyed with the fact that they keep bumping up the tiers of tools. It used to be basic and full. Then it was 3 tiers in 9. Now it’s 4. Other than that, it looks good so far.

FYI, it would be more helpful if I could click your screenshots expand/enlarge them. It's hard to see anything in detail with the smaller screenshots.

I hear you. It's a limitation of my Wordpress theme. I find pinch zooming works well because even when the images are clickable I end up wanting to pinch zoom anyway.

Thanks for the encouragement, Brian! I forwarded your review to the design staff. I'm glad to hear you're getting good value out of the left-side toolbar as well as the other (more than) cosmetic updates.

Hi Eli. Is there a way to put the toolbar back up on top instead of on the side?

Thank you, Andrew. I may eventually get to like it on the left, but right now, I was having difficulty finding what I wanted/needed. Overall, I like the new program.

It took me about a week to adjust.

They just want you to spend more money lol.

I would not call this a major update, but it has enough for me to upgrade to the starter level.

I immediately changed my setting to put it back on the top as my standard layout includes 7 columns and having it on the left squishes everything.

I flipped it back immediately as well. Whoever decided where to put that new setting in the list of Program Settings was wise! On top I can more easily ignore the menu when I'm not using it. I also like having all possible width.
I do think that it's a good thing that the left side menu option exists; at the moment, it's just not for me.

The left toolbar collapses with the arrow on the bottom to be quite narrow. I prefer the top toolbar on my laptop and the left toolbar on my desktop, where I have more real estate.

I changed it back to top ... I want the "real estate on screen" in width, not in height.

Having the menu bar on the left side is just too new for me. For now... I'll run "topside".
But I do notice a couple of things about L10..
1. It "feels" solid and snappy. I did a couple of reindexes... just checking... and it was (I think) quicker than L9. I didn't measure it.... but it was noticeable.
2. Search is better for me! First thing I did when I got L10 is start searching.... Conclusion is... I can now find stuff in my library! Big time goody on this!
3. I like the "Quotes" in Sermon builder.... Great addition!
4. Still not sure about Factbook... but when I get time I'll give it a drive...
5. Dark mode... Not sure about this... but I think the colors are better in L10??? Hope someone else checks this one out.
These are what I have noticed so far.
Was it worth the upgrade? For me, yes!

Before L10 I frequently wanted to hide the toolbar all together because I do this frequently in other applications. I like the left side compromise especially in light of the switch to buttons with icons and no text.

UPDATE.
I have to admit. I was wrong. Logos 10 IS a major upgrade.
I initially purchase the starter upgrade for the features. I wasn't sure if I wanted or even needed all the features.
But once I started to play with Logos 10 and studied the new features I do think this is one of the most significant upgrades in a while. And the software is FINALLY faster.
So I called back to return my original upgrade to get the full update. Just the new ability to add by printed book library is worth the upgrade.
The significantly simplified search operation and snappier operation of the APP that makes using Logos a joy.
And, FINALLY, the new iPad App rocks.
So, I was wrong, Logos 10 is a major, worthwhile, and great upgrade.
I have the Platinum level from Logos 6 running Logos 9 so I upgraded to Logos 10 Reformed Gold upgrade.

I know that this is an older post but is there a plan for Logos 10 to automatically update each time you cut it on or do it still have go to the go box and type update now?

(I posted this regarding auto switching from dark to light mode but this doesn’t seem to be the question asked by the previous post in this thread)
It is a planned feature according to this feedbear post https://logos.feedbear.com/boards/logos-desktop-app/posts/toggle-dark-mode-without-restarting0 -

I don't remember a time when Logos did not update automatically. Using "Update now" you might be able to speed up the process, it might also be helpful, when Logos had for some reason a problem to connect, but otherwise, there is no need for you to use it. If that doesn't work for you, check the options in Program Settings in the section "Internet".

Actually...
There is a setting called "automatically start downloads." When "no" is selected, the user must go and type "update now." It appears that Joe turned that to "off" and didn't realize what it meant.

Exactly - that is why I added the second sentence in my post above [:)]

Yeah, I obviously misread the question posed earlier. sorry about that; was reading/responding too quickly while walking to work.

How long have you waited to receive an update automatically? I am not sure, how often Logos checks for updates, but it seems to me, it does so quite often.
I assume that's 8 am to 5 pm? If it is 8 pm, are you sure your computer does not go to sleep during that time? Is there a reason you don't set it to midnight to midnight? Obviously, Logos won't turn on your computer by itself, but that way it has the maximum flexibility and assuming you have good broadband, it shouldn't matter when updates are downloaded.

If 1) your internet is on and 2) your computer is awake: These settings should automatically download the updates. They would be applied upon a restart, but you would not have to use the "update now" command.
