[Bug?] Logos 10 massive slowdown on startup (Win)
Win11 - Starting Logos, PC (I9 12900KF, 64GB RAM, SSD): PC slows down (really!) heavily after starting Logos for about 30mins. After that Logos and the PC get usable again.
Logos.exe is eating up all CPU or IO power. Even the mouse cursor is stuttering.
I can't use my PC (even the mouse cursor is stuttering, something that never happened during the last few years) until I kill the process for Logos or wait for about 30mins.
Logos shows this behaviour every time, no indexing running.

Your machine seems to be very very fast, so this experience is definitely not "normal".
Please start Logos with the Ctrl key pressed, this will invoke logging (see http://wiki.logos.com/diagnostic_logging ), then share the Logos.log file.

Thanks! With blank layout Logos starts immediately. When I open my working layout (a complex one), the problem begins.

I've also been experiencing similar slowdowns. So far all of my Logos 9 layouts cause the software to completely jam up. so frustrating

If there is a bug, FL will need logs. I encourage you to create a new thread, explain the issue clearly, and provide appropriate details (including logs). You may link to this thread if you would like.

I gave a quick answer in the other thread, but I do hope an experienced log reader comes across. I personally did not concentrate enough on the new search syntax and VFs in the beta to be really useful here.

The issue seems to be limited to the initial time of opening each layout, when I go back to the layout a second time, it opens up much faster, and was completely responsive. So whatever it is, it seems to work itself out.

Even after a restart?
I experience the problem after every restart of the software.
Thanks NB.Mick for your idea, I think a logos develop should have a look. I'm not yet willing to change my visual filter settings, I really like especially this feature. If you are right and the new syntax is the cause of this slowdown, there probably is something to be fixed.

You are right! I started Logos with Ctrl (so no layout) and checked every visual filter. Many of them had "error" (or something like that) lines instead of the original filter criteria. And other filter document took quite a while to simple load. I removed the error-lines and the filters where the definition took a long loading time - voilá, CPU spikes on startup (this is unusual, but ok) and then comes down to normal values and everything is responsive as before.
Thanks! But Faithlife, please have a look into it, I don't think this is working as intended.

Whilst the VF's seem to be the cause of the slow down, there are many logged entries about the update state of resources. So delete these folders:
- UpdateManager
- DownloadManager
- CloudResourceManager
from C:\Users\mwalt\Logos\Data\oqe31law.dnn. They will be restored when you restart Logos.

I deleted them, too. Just in case. Thanks!
