Will features obtained from non-base packages continue to work after v10 upgrade?
Hi - i purchased Logos 9 Starter package, but over time added "non-base" packages as the most economical way to pick up specific features (vs. upgrading to Bronze, Silver, etc.). E.g., I added "Preaching Suite Essentials" when it was on sale, which provided (iirc) the Concordance and Timeline tools vs. a more expensive Bronze upgrade; and I added the "Logos 9 Academic Features" upgrade, as a cheaper way to obtain access to morphology-related capability/searching, sentence diagramming, etc. vs. a more expensive upgrade to Silver.
If I now upgrade to Logos 10 Starter, what will happen to all those features not in Starter? Will the version 10 engine "recognize" that I have them validly licensed via v9 purchases, and allow them to continue to operate?
Thank you. I apologize if this has been asked-and-answered frequently, couldn't isolate a question for this specific situation.

YES you keep any book or feature you buy. I have things from Logos 4 that I can still use in Logos 10. [:D]

(For your future research, the term you're looking for is "Dynamic Pricing".)

Thank you, Tom, SineNomine ... follow on question. Does the base package upgrade result in upgrading all tools that I have licensed, even if they're not in that package?
What I mean is - after upgrading to v10 Starter, would the new version's code for any such features that are not included in Starter be in use? For example - Concordance Tool isn't in Starter (I have it via a different package, which I'm not upgrading explicitly - in this case, "Preaching Suite Essentials", i think). When I upgrade to v10 Starter, is the new v10 code for the Concordance Tool running, so that I receive the benefit of any updates/fixes in that feature? Or, conversely, is the old v9 Concordance Tool code still running, until I do some other upgrade that explicitly includes the Concordance Tool?
Let me know if that doesn't make any sense - I can ask it differently, more explicitly. As an IT guy, i've actually seen both licensing models/approaches used for non-core capabilities/add-ons. The answer determines if I only need to plan on upgrading Starter from now one, every major release - vs. upgrading Starter, and upgrading the Preaching Suite Essentials, and upgrading the Academic Features Package, and and ....
Thank you!

Hi Dave.
You own and will always own anything you’ve bought in the past. All features that you have paid for will transfer to Logos 10 seamlessly, no matter what package you buy. Even if you wait for the free version, all previously purchased features will still work in Logos 10.
I have been with Logos since about version 2 or 3 and have never lost anything, no matter if I bought Gold one time and just Bronze the next. Faithlife is really good about programming their software to ensure you keep what you own. I really respect them for that.0 -
Let me know if that doesn't make any sense
It makes perfect sense. L/V10 doesn't have a different Concordance tool, etc. Occasionally Faithlife has released a completely new version of some tool and (initially) sold it as new, deprecating the old one--the current Notes tool is not the old one, and the current Factbook is the second Factbook--but normally the tool is the tool is the tool, and improvements to the program that affect a specific tool (i.e., a bug fix) are applied at the level of the program, so if you have a license for Tool X and you're running Logos/Verbum Y.z, it doesn't matter when or how you acquired Tool X, the bug fix in Y.z will benefit it.
Once again, Dynamic Pricing gives you your answer: if Faithlife isn't charging you for Tool X, which is something you can check on the PDP, then that's because it's already yours.
