Searching in clippings for 'p'
Hi there,
When I run a search for 'p' in clippings on Android it produces a set of results that seems erroneous. I imagine that what is happening is that searching for any single letter in the word 'clippings' would return all results. The expected results should exclude the words clippings from the result.

Clippings is the name of the tool not a part of the text in a clipping. Your search is asking for clippings which have a p in the text, not just the heading/first line. You would have to expand the clipping to see where the p occurs.

Thanks MJ. I understand what you are saying, however if you look at the second result in the screenshot you will see that the title of the clipping does not have a p in it, yet is returned in the results. This should not be the case. Does that make more sense?

Not quite. Where are you restricting the search to the title? Anywhere in the text is what is searched.

Ok I see what you are saying. It's probably a question of what it is supposed to do. From my perspective, if I am in a screen to attach clippings only I'd not expect it to search the word clipping. However I understand that this might be as designed...

It is NOT searching the word clipping. You are showing ONLY the title of the clipping. Please open the CONTENT of the clipping i.e. what you clipped. That is where you will find the "missing p's" that the search matched on.

I don't think that's right. In the example.below I have an empty clippings document named xyzzy, yet searching for 's' returns this clipping. It *may* be attaching content too but this result isn't right, I think.

Until you attach a copy of the actual contents of the clipping you believe to be in error, I can't help you further. The screenshot you provide does not show the relevant information to know if the clipping should or should not be included.

A quick bit of testing shows that it does indeed search the content of the clippings but also, as shown in my last post, also searches the word 'clippings'

Here is the contents of the xyzzy clipping file

Thank you. I can now see that you do have a problem. Unfortunately, I cannot duplicate it.

I can reproduce this. I'll write up a case and have the team investigate. Thank you, Paul. Your bug reports have been very helpful in allowing us to refine the Android app. We appreciate your patience.

Ok thanks Ali. The significance and visibility of some of the bugs I've reported does make me wonder about QA process on this app. A basic functionality test (trying each function) would have identified most of these issues before release.

I understand your concern. However, we did test the apps extensively before releasing the new version (for several months, in fact). Bugs can creep in even with extensive testing. Rest assured, the team is working diligently to resolve your issues.

Thanks Ali, I didn't imagine for a moment that it wasn't tested during the process, however clearly some significant bugs crept into the final version. This is still a concern, as a basic run through each element of the functionality (on the RC version) would have revealed these bugs before they reached me. Thanks for your prompt responses to all of the issues I've reported and I look forward to having a new version which resolves these issues shortly.

This doesn't seem to be resolved Ali. I've checked with build 10.0.4 and can replicate the issue, can you confirm please?
