Bug: Copying Links in Notes is Broken
A recent update seems to have broken something in Logos Notes.
- When I cut and paste text from one note to another note I lose any links. It is like copying to notepad; I get the text only, no blue (except scripture references, of course).
- This used to work fine before and now it doesn't.
I have many links in my notes and move stuff around all the time. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Maybe this is an easy fix?
Thanks.

Here is an example. I hit select all on the left and then copied over to the right. The links to commentaries (Moo & Segraves) were copied over, but the links to Bible Word Study (the Greek Words) and to my other notes (BTN . . .) didn't make it.
And this used to work before. In fact, it still works on my old Windows 7 / Logos 8 computer. Apparently a recent update broke something.
Notice also, the spacing before and after the bold words (ministry & teaching) gets messed up too.

On the current beta on Win 10, I can't recreate the problem. I tried both CNTRL V and the mouse menu Paste. What version of Logos and what operating system are you on? I did select and copy rather than CNTRL+ A

Windows 10 Pro (19042.867)
Logos 9.3.0.0052Did you try making links to other notes or to Bible Word Study?
For some reason the links to commentaries survived the copy.

Hmmm...
I am on Windows 10 Home (build 19042.867) and Verbum 9.4 Beta 3 ... so I'm afraid that I am stumped since I can't recreate your problem.

You are brilliant! A link to a BWS in URL format copied correctly however the L4 format dropped the link. This is a bug that FL will have to address.

This is also still broken in Logos 10, 2022!

Your issue sounds like a number of other Notes issues that FL has chosen to outright ignore, as with the issues addressed in the thread above. Something happened in the coding of L9 (which persists in L10) and it wrecked Notes badly. Don't hold your breath...this will never be fixed. FL doesn't care.

Just popping in here to confirm that we are actively working on several fixes for copying notes that should be present in v23. Can't guarantee that we get all of them in this first effort, but definitely carriage returns and L4 links as well as a couple others that we've found.

Since this is one of the only FL replies to a note issue I can recall, please also address the fact that material that is pasted into Notes is a larger font than things that are typed into Notes. I think this occurs in Desktop and Mobile. In Mobile, material can be pasted from one location within a note to another without issue, but pasting new material into a note results in a larger font.
Fwiw, I tried out of curiosity to see if the increased font size issue was cumulative, so I copied a section of enlarged text back into one of my notes and that material remained the same font size. I conclude that copied text is assigned a particular font size that is simply a point or two larger than natively produced text.
Also, for clarity, the font size that is produced when typing in the note box is the correct size. The correction should entail having pasted text match native text rather than enlarging the native text size to correspond to pasted text.

We use a different editor for notes on desktop/web vs mobile, so it makes sense that the experience would be different. I would be curious what platform you are and where you are trying to paste from. Pasting content copied from different applications can produce different results, as different applications fill the clipboard in different ways. When I tried to paste a couple things from Firefox to the Windows desktop client, it pasted with the default font size of 11. I'm not aware of anything that would arbitrarily bump the font size by a couple steps.
Just to be clear, most of our work in v23 is fixing issues copying from Notes and pasting into Notes. Not ignoring other issues, but that's the scope that we have focused on thus far.

This has been fixed . . . kinda. New L4 links copy over fine, but when I copy from older notes the links are still dropped. Something must have changed in the way that the links are made.
One way to tell: If I highlight the link and click the link icon and the box is empty then it will not copy (even thought it still works). But if the link shows in the text box then it will copy over ok.
Can anyone else verify that older L4 links are still being dropped when copied?

UPDATE: 2024-05-29 10h36_54 I rebooted my MacBook Pro and all is well.
Sorry that I'm responding to a post that is a bit old, but my problem is new. As of today when I create a link in notes (such as https://ref.ly/logos4/Search?kind=BibleSearch&q=%22Here+I+am%22&syntax=v2&documentlevel=verse&match=nostem&in=raw%3aSingle%7cResourceId%3dLLS%3a1.0.710&viewkind=passages), the text does not turn blue to indicate the link. The link is there and it works, but the black text color does not indicate the presence of the link. I quit Logos 10 and reloaded it, but nothing changed.
