It should just happen automatically in the background.

Are you seeing things that are not synching?

For clarification: Please be specific by what you mean "sync between two computers." What are you wanting to sync? As Graham noted, this should happen automatically provided both computers 1) are using default settings and 2) have good internet.

Thanks Graham & JT for coming in on this. I thought it should be synching but it's not. I've got a particular passage up plus several commentaries but when I slip over to the other computer, it's not the same.

Also, I have this laptop in dark mode but the other laptop is not. As to the 'default settings'... can you please clarify. And yes, I have FiberOps so the speed is better than excellent.

Sync is used for a range of items - highlights, notes, contents of sermons, clippings, status of reading plans, etc - in other words the items found in the Docs menu.

It is also used to sync layouts, Favorites and more.

But it isn’t intended to sync resources and their positions between different computers - as we might be using different computers for different things, the computers might support different resolutions etc. If you do want the resources and positions to be replicated then the way to do that is to create a layout on one computer (the one containing the resources as you want them) and then select that layout (which will be synced) on the other one.

Similarly, a range of settings are not synced including the light / dark mode settings, program scaling, download options, etc

Does this make sense / clarify what you are seeing?

    Hi Boot:

Layouts must be saved (command: 'Update active layout') for the current places in the resources to appear on another computer, where the layout must be opened again to reflect the changes.

Thank you for the replies. Graham, tell me if this could be my problem. Reading what you've written, it seems to be but... let's say I have a layout on this laptop with six commentaries opened and on the other laptop I have the same passages opened in my Bible but with five different commentaries open and two dictionaries. From what I'm understanding, that won't sync, correct.

Robert, I have updated the active layouts. Thanks for the pointer.

    That is correct

If, on the first computer, you saved that set of resources as a layout and then opened that layout on the second computer you would get the same set of resources in the same configuration.

From your description, you have two different layouts ... I'd suggest the following:

On laptop 1, using it with internet connection, arrange the layout as you want it (e.g. Bible plus commentaries, etc.) and via layout menu save that layout under as a named layout (e.g. "Name Sample One" (whatever you chose as name). When you close Logos on that laptop this layout is synchronized.

Next, open Logos on laptop 2, once it has loaded go to its Layout Menu, and you should see your "Name Sample One" layout listed under the section of saved layouts. Then click to open that layout, and you will have the same Bible plus commentaries layout open on your laptop 2 (provided that the same resources are present on both laptops) as you had on laptop 1.

If you make changes in your saved layout, make sure you use the "update current layout" command before you close Logos. If you then open the same layout later on the other laptop you will have the synced updated version available there.
