I think I own both the Protestant and Catholic Edition of the ECF. I don’t think I need both.
Should I check to see if the Catholic edition can be transferred, and if so, are there any takers who want it?
Thanks!
You can't advertise on the forums (etiquette). Only If purchased as a standalone collection can it be transferred.
I thought way-back-when, FL gave CE's free to owners of the Protestant version. That's how I got mine. Then I hid the Protestant version (the smaller one).
Then I hid the Protestant version (the smaller one).
Is the Protestant version smaller? My understanding is the main difference between the two is that the Catholic one doesn't have the notes, so thus it should be shorter. I have the Catholic one hidden for that reason.
What do you mean by "the smaller one?" I thought they were the same material except the protestant version has additional front matter.
My experience with the two editions. While I prefer the Catholic edition because the Protestant edition has a lot of polemical “excursus” added in, I keep the Protestant edition because sometimes other Logos works (like The Annotated Luther) are linked to page numbers in the Protestant version. Without it, those links don’t really work… or at least they didn’t back when I read it. Maybe they work now. This was back in the days of L8.
You guys/gals are probably right. At the time I saw the CE has having what I I had as limited, while the Protestant as nothing new.
or at least they didn’t back when I read it. Maybe they work now. This was back in the days of L8.
When I had my Verbum 10 Gold free-trial some of the links still didn't work.
Thanks for the updates. I checked my purchase history, and it seems I have an order number in the system for a free order for the CE, so not sure what that means on being transferrable.
It was free because anyone who owns either set can acquire the other for free. I think that attempting to transfer the free CE would be an abuse of the system.
I remember a thread a while back where users were able to transfer one of the editions to a user who didn’t own ECF. I never did it since at the time, I wanted to retain the notes in both editions in case I needed them. I don’t know if that transfer allowance is still ongoing or not. If it was, I was willing to do my “good deed” for another Logos user, but if it’s not, that’s fine too.
You need to settle that with Customer Service and then perhaps there is someone you know who would benefit from your gift.
I have an email into CS about another transfer, so I’ll ask them once I hear back from them. Thanks!
