How many GBs would a large library take up?

No real reason, but I am curios how much storage you actually need as your library gets bigger. I would guess the only major impacts to storage are mobileEd videos and maybe resources that have lots of photos. but as far as text based library items, will larger libraries take up that much space?

Perhaps, people can comment with how many resources you have and how large your Logos4 folder is?

Second item maybe related: wanted to watch a mobileEd video last night on the Apple TV that is in our living room. wouldn't load. saw later there was some kind of outage. how would someone make sure that their mobileEd courses are safe in the event of a major server outage?

Have about 6,350 books, courses, etc. and I am using about 53gb's. Hope that helps. I like audio books. [:D]

Just for common reference, what folder are you all measuring? Resources has just resources in it, but downloaded Mobile Ed files are elsewhere, for example - they are not stored in Resources. There may be other examples. Are you measuring the entire Logos or Verbum folder?

He asked for the "Logos4" folder... which is what I gave. It is true that the "Logos4" folder won't be just resources... but it does show how large the entire installation would be (i.e. "how much room will Logos take up on my computer?")

NOTE: "Logos4" IS the name on Mac. It may be something else on Windows.

Hmm... now I'm curious. Let's see... I have 169,383 resources. My folder is about 91 GB (instead of the expected 1.15TB). So... your mileage may vary. Contributing factors to variation that are independent of resource count may include your WebCache folder (mine is only 4 GB) and your documents.

My longstanding recommendation is to leave extra room for indexing and stuff you never expected you will buy. You can always curate your library but you shouldn't have to do it.

OK, using the new posts (after I posted the chart), nothing changes much with Andrew left out...the GB per thousand resources dropped from 6.8 to 6.2. And the coefficient of determination only dropped from 0.94 to 0.92 (which is still evidence of a great predictor model).

Well, of course. That SLR had six data points, and two others were left out as probable outliers. No variables were controlled. Your mileage will indeed vary. It was what we call a SWAG, but with a little data.

Don't get me wrong. I love your graph. Keep adding data points. I'm actually really interested to see the numbers. I was shocked mine was so far off the estimate, so I'm happy to find my error.

In summary, if you are not Andrew, you can expect about six and a half gigs per thousand resources. Again, this data is limited by a small n and is range-restricted from about 5K to about 30K resources. If you were paying attention in your intro stats class, you know better than to try to use a prediction model outside the range restriction. [8-|]

Wow...it really does. And that pushes the r-square to 0.998, which is unheard of. The per-thousand changes to 6.01 (six for gubmint work).

It also takes the cap off the range restriction.

As a developer, I regularly run an account set up with all the resources (including those no longer for sale). This is beneficial in catching performance issues, and also makes it easier to deal with bugs that might involve specific resources.

My developer account is entirely separate from my personal account.

It's just a Dell Precision 5550 with an i9-10885H, 32 GB RAM, and a big SSD. It's old enough that it's not even sold on Dell's site anymore.
