iPad Notes - not seen in iPhone or Desktop

Hi everyone,

I highlight and take Notes using the square icon with pen protruding (please see screenshot above). 2 things. (i) You don't see the Note icon next to it. Why not? (ii) The Notes are not there when I see the same passage in iPhone or Desktop.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

The note can be attached to the reference (verse) or to the text (words).

The easiest way for me to see the difference is with the desktop app. When you click and drag the cursor to highlight an existing highlight, the popup appears that has "Edit Notes." If you click that, you will see the highlight/note in a Note panel. At the top of the panel you will see:
"Date Modified" followed by the Note icon, followed by the Highlight icon. There is a dropdown behind each one.

If the Note icon is active (no circle-backslash), then it's a Note.
If the Highlight icon is active (no circle-backslash), then it's a highlight.
Both may be activated at the same time, so that you will see both a highlight and a Note icon in the resource's text.

My guess is that you are creating a Highlight when you intended to create a Note in your resource's text.

Thanks a ton, Jack, for helping out. I have a follow up question.

I sometimes Highlight only and sometimes I Highlight AND take Notes, but never take just Notes. It seems that the iPad doesn’t put the Notes icon when I include a Note. Therefore, the Notes icon doesn’t show up on my iPhone or Desktop. Is there a default setting in iPad/iPhone/Desktop that I can change so that the Notes icon will show on all the Notes I created on my iPad (not just the new ones that I will create going forward). Then when the iPad syncs, the Notes icon should show up on my iPhone and Desktop also. [the good news, therefore, is that the Notes I took on iPad seem to be there on the Desktop. On my desktop, when I click and drag the cursor on an Highlight I created on iPad, and then hit "EDit Notes", I do see teh Notes. So that is good news. Since I didn’t see the Notes icon on my iPhone/Desktop, I assumed that the Notes was not synched/lost. Without the Notes icon next to it, it is hard to see where I took Notes.]

Sorry for the late Thank you. I first quickly tried to follow the instructions. Wasn't successful. Waited to read carefully and try it out. Still not successful. I needlessly complicated my question. I am going to create a new post explaining my dilemma simply.
