LSB RECENT UPDATE
The most recent update on the LSB changed the words of Christ from black to red, yet it is incomplete. I noticed that in Rev. 1-3, the words of Christ have remained in black color. I don't know if there are more examples,
Please advise.
Thank you

you’ll have to be more explicit.
Rev 1:18 is a good example.
I don't red-letter, but just comparing the 1900 KJV to the LSB red-lettering is curious. Plus, maybe written Jesus words aren't to be red; only spoken.

Rev. 2 and 3 are still in black letters, only the titles are in red letters. Every other translation (minus the LEB) has the remaining words of Christ in red letters, including its "mother translation", the NASB 1977 @ the 1995. Did MacArthur and his team decide to leave it in black letters, or is this an incomplete update?

I just checked in accordance and the letters to the churches are in red in the LSB. I am not a fan of red letter texts, but it does appear that it should be that way in the LSB.

My addition with lastest update has NO red-letter words of Christ- anywhere, I'm not a RL person, so no big deal- but does this mean it's a bug?

Probably not the issue for you, but I assumed the same for me, when I reset RL in Settings. Required a re-start.

lol I'm starting to think there needs to be an LSB sub-forum...

Has anyone been alerted to this problem? First of all, it took them 6 months to release the LSB, but some bugs remain. The first one with Christ letters in black, the second one with the size of the OT quotations in the NT, which are inordinately huge, and three, an incomplete update or Christ's red-letter words.
On the outside, it looks like sloppy work to me, but I don't know the reasons behind it. 😵💫

I don't know about the font size but I believe they said the publisher had sent them a file without the red letter markings. I agree it looks like sloppy work but enough Bibles lack the color coding, it would raise a red flag for me.

Bible Study 6 has all the words of Christ in red which comes from Accordance. The Publisher must have realized that so far, all the bibles that Lockman has put out come with red letters of Christ including the Spanish version. So, all the 1977, 1995, and 2020 publications came out with red letters for the words of Christ, but the Publisher somehow missed it with the LSB?
Hardly, this is Logos issue, not the Publisher.

When confronted with information that is incompatible, I have to choose one, the other, or none.
Hi Joseph,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The original material available to us did not include this data [red letter info], but we're working to get it and it's something we can add. Thank you very much for your patience!
Have a great day.

That post was before the last update that turned out to be incomplete. She might not be aware of this.

Seeing the same spotty use of red letter text in the beginning of The Revelation also. I fill it in with red foreground highlight. It is a bit brighter red and i like it better.

LOL! I thought of that too.

Hello,
Thank you for reporting this issue. I apologize for the oversight; the lack of red-letter in Revelations has been fixed and you'll see an update next week.
Thank you for your patience!

When can we expect the LSB to be morphologically tagged?

Majo, incidentally, do you have any idea when the OT quotations will be fixed? If these weren't so huge; I would have simply waited for the update without saying much.
Anyway, thank you for fixing the red letters, you are the best!

Michael, in the past it took about six months after the initial release. Logos did it with the MEV and the NASB 2020.
Blessings,

Hi Majo
Thank you for reporting this issue. I apologize for the oversight; the lack of red-letter in Revelations has been fixed and you'll see an update next week.
I've just checked and I only see red letter in the first verse of each letter to the churches - not the whole letter. Is this to be expected?
Thanks, Graham

That's exactly what I would expect. Red letter should reflect the words Jesus is speaking "live" in the Scripture (as the first phrases to each letter do in Revelation 2-3). The letters themselves were dictated to John – "And to the angel of the church in ____________ write:"

Compared with other translations, this is wrong; I cannot agree.

That's your privilege. Since the original manuscripts were presumably not "red letter" (in fact it seems to have originated in 1899, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_letter_edition) it is simply a matter of preference and not essential to a right understanding of the Scriptures.

I don't care about the original manuscripts; all I care if Logos can be consistent in doing their job. I checked Bible 6 Bible Program, and the LSB has the words of Christ in red from Matthew to Revelation, so that's not the problem.
All I want to know of if Logos is willing to help with this issue; l if not, I will contact the Lockman Foundation and see what they can do because they already agreed to correct the size of the OT quotes in the NT which are too large in comparison to their counterparts NAS95 and NASB 2020. It looks awful.

all I care if Logos can be consistent in doing their job.
They can only be as consistent as the text provided to them by the publisher. Logos does not add red letter capability to editions that are not published with it, just as they do not add pericope headings to editions not published with them.

Thanks, I will contact the Publisher then. I appreciate your response.

FYI, Lockman Foundation is not the publisher of LSB. They are publisher of NASB. Three Sixteen Publishing is responsible for LSB.
Each Translation committee/ publisher determines which words they attribute to Christ. Do a search of "Words of Christ in John 3" and you will find there is disagreement amongst Scholars as to which words were spoken by Christ -- therefore Faithlife cannot edit the LSB text. That needs to be provided by Three Sixteen Publishing. NONE of us know what details were included in the data that 3 16 provided to Faithlife (or any competitor).
