Indexing Taking Too Long
For some reason indexing is taking longer in Logos 10. When I noticed, it took a couple of hours to go from 13% to 20% Way longer than it used to take in L9

I don't notice this. I just added a book... and it zipped right along....
xn = Christan man=man -- Acts 11:26 "....and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch".

First thing to look at is available space for the indexing.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Today I got a message when I restarted my laptop. It said choose an app to open an .dll system file. I chose notepad and it was the Logos indexer doing that. I restarted again and another windows update came through. I’ll see if this update fixes things.

We need some more definitive information.
Had Logos finished indexing before the restart and did the message state that it came from LogosIndexer.exe? Why did you choose Notepad for a dll system file (what was its filename?) and has the indexing finished?
EDIT: Notepad only works with text files, so I'm surprised that it appears to have satisfied the request.

What was being indexed (a few updates or a full index)? Is it true of v10 in general or just this instance?
If the problem continues we need some logs to diagnose properly.

Dave,
It was only indexing some updates not a full index. The reason I chose notepad to open the .dll system file is because it was one of the options it gave me in a pop up window (other options were Acrobat Reader, Word, etc.).
After Windows updated a second time the error message went away. The indexing still took a while, but it’s finished now. So far it’s working fine. I dislike indexing a lot because it slows down my laptop too much. Anyway, a MacBook Pro 💻 is in the near horizon. 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD 14in screen. My DELL is 5 years old, so it’s time for an upgrade. Can’t wait to finally experience an SSD. Hard drives suck!
Thanks!

That's good. Are you on Win 10 and what was the last update (from Settings > Windows Update > Update History)?

Apple is what we used to call "over engineering" meaning anything more than doing the job was "paying too much for".... for example... A Mac Pro costs maybe ~$2,000.00 whereas same pc layout cost maybe ~$1,000.00.
But then.... I drive a Ford... while many drive fancy cars.... [8-|]

How does this relate to my post (which is what you replied to) or the thread as a whole?
