Live links for Logos 10 mobile app clippings

I really love using the Logos 10 App for research. In previous editions of the Logos mobile app, you could copy and paste a clipping from a book and it would include a linked tag that included the book title and a live link back to the original resource. While this feature is still available on the desktop software it has disappeared from the mobile app. This makes doing responsible research a bit more difficult. Please bring this feature back!!! Big Smile

Weekly bump of threads without a response in hopes of getting them answered.

Hi Timothy, can you please describe the steps you are taking when trying to copy/paste a clipping on the L10 mobile app? Where are you copying from and pasting to?

  • Hi Ali. If I am preparing a sermon I will make a note next to the word or verse in a Logos edition Bible and I will paste the clipping. If I am doing academic research I might paste it into a Logos notebook I have made for that topic or in to a Google/Word document. In earlier editions of the mobile app, one could clip a section from a Logos book and paste the clipping into a notebook or into a Word or Google and it would include hyperlinked bibliographic information. To do this, I would either select the text and 1. press ‘copy’ or 2.  press ‘share as’ then ‘copy’. I would then paste the clip into a note or document. If I remember correctly, when selecting ‘copy’ it would give you bibliographic information without a live link. But if you selected ‘share as’ then ‘copy’, it would include a live link without the bibliographic info. Now in the latest edition of Logos mobile when I  select a text to ’copy’ it includes neither. The clip is only plain text without any live link or bibliographic info. When selecting text and clicking ‘share’ then ‘copy’ it includes a live link back to the resource without bibliographic information. Ideally, it would be great that when one clips selection from a book in the mobile app through the ‘copy’ or ‘share’ option, it will include both simplified bibliographic info (author, book title, page number) along a live link that refers back to the clipped portion of text. This would be helpful for academic research as well as for attribution purposes when writing and preaching sermons.

Now when you do so it clips only plain text without any live link or bibliographic info. This makes it much harder to organize and cite sources that one has found as one can not be sure where they came from.

Thank you for the information, Timothy. This has never been possible in the mobile app, however, it is possible in the web app (app.logos.com). Is it possible that you were using the web app (app.logos.com) while on your mobile device?

  • Ali, that could be the case as I do use the web based app. It was a 3-4 years ago that I was able to do this if my memory serves me right.

Gotcha. I think that may have been the case then since this has never been made available on the mobile app. That being said, feel free to make a post in Faithlife Feedback for others to vote for.
