[RESOLVED 12/11/22] ATTN: KYLE: Apparent Lack of Tagging - Lost Spurgeon Sermons

Regarding The Lost Spurgeon Sermons (7 vols), I expected those resources to be discoverable in the Sermon section of the various guides. However a random check indicates that they are not. I reviewed the product page and saw no reason to expect that they would behave differently than the Met Tab or New Park sermons. (There is a vestigial note about Vol 1 being an epub, but that's no longer true.) All seven volumes are Logos Research editions and five are of Sermon type.

If the expected behavior is a work-in-progress, it would be helpful for that to be noted on the product page (maybe I missed it; it happens). I obtained them in a dynamically-priced base package, but if someone pays the hefty list price and expects sermon functionality, they might be really chapped.

I searched for another thread about this, but was unable to find one.

I don't have the resource to check but the best way to tell if they are tagged as sermons is to select the first part of one of the sermons, right click, and see if the left side shows a sermon label. Alternatively, run a book search of sermon:* on a volume. If there are no sermon labels, report it as a production error for Kyle to take care of.

The formatting and linking of footnotes, page numbers etc. is just as shoddy as in any other epub. It's definitely not a Logos Research Edition, despite saying so in the resource info.

Sure. The TOC has a link to every single page number, clicking footnotes jumps to the end notes in the resource instead of displaying a popup, the cover page is an image.

I also don't see the sermon label when right clicking. Maybe my resource failed to update? I bought this when it was still an ebook, and I don't own any of the packages that include the Logos edition. Maybe it will be updated later...

Yes, that's what I have also. Volume 1 wasn't one that I spot-checked; I was mislead by the Edition metadata. Formatting is a mess, in-text TOC seems to consist of web links to nowhere, footnotes aren't standard, and no Sermon or Sermon Outline labels.

there is only one version, your edition is part of what has been shipped. The product page https://www.logos.com/product/229492/the-lost-sermons-of-c-h-spurgeon says: "Volume one is currently an EPUB, but will be automatically updated to a Logos edition once it is complete." - so this will probably happen in time.

To me it seems the whole package may be somewhat under construction: The titles, subjects and authors are inconsistent, vol 2 completely missing a volume number in the title, not being authored by Spurgeon at all and having a wrong cover on the inside title page), the series field is missing in two of them. You former eBook missing any subject is just to be expected.

Technically, it's a Logos edition.

If any tagging is wrong, then it's this one.
