Preparing Your Library.... over 40 minutes now... normal? Next steps?

I upgraded from L9 to L10, including a step up in resources. After relaunching L10 I received the "Preparing Your Library" message. It's been like that for over 40 minutes now. This is surprising since I am running L10 on one of the latest MacBook Pro's with the M1 chip. Not a slow machine.

Anyone else experience this? Any advice other than "be patient"?

I went to the Support page, and the best option seemed to be "delete, reinstall" which I did. The new version downloaded and completed installation in less than 10 minutes.

Good work!  Preparing library is a bit of a mystery.  Turning on the lights, starting the coffee, puttng back books in their proper place. Unlocking the entrance.

With my new MacBook Pro and slow internet it took about 4 hours to download 75GB, after the preparing library was quick and then the indexing took 45 minutes for 20k and change resources.  If it was a windows my experience would’ve been different (it would’ve taken longer!).

Maybe upgrading from L9 to L10 was the issue for you.  Since I changed computers, I did a clean install on my Mac, so maybe that made a difference.
