I know that many of you may still be deciding on what courses to get, and if you are interested in ANE/Greco-Roman background context, then I have found the following two courses by Mark Chavalas extraordinary:
BI304: Women in the Biblical World: Old Testament
BI306: Women in the Biblical World: New Testament
For each of the subjects treated in the table of contents, he goes fairly broadly into the subject matter before delving into the specific relationship to women, so you get context upon context. He also presents information which some could find dry and boring in a manner that is engaging and somewhat entertaining. He has a laid back manner and somewhat dry sense of humor. The extra readings also supplement the material widely, so I have been forcing myself to finish all of the supplemental readings.
I don't usually spend as much time and effort on the courses, and this one has held my attention enough to stay with it.
I just find the whole thing fascinating, so I had to share.
