Page Turn by Volume Button and Disable Animation in Android?
Hi all!
I just got a Onyx BOOX Leaf 2 ereader for Christmas. It will replace my Kindle as it is a full-featured Android tablet, but with an eink screen. The main reason that I got it was because it would give me access to my whole Logos library on that nice-to-read-from screen (much better than a phone or iPad).
However, there are two little tweaks that I wanted to see if it would be at all possible to enable an option to have the pages turn with the volume or page buttons on Android. The Leaf 2 has dedicated page-turn buttons that are much nicer to use than swiping on the screen. Several reader apps (Kindle, etc.) have the option to allow the volume buttons to turn pages. Would it be possible to add this functionality to the Logos Android app?
Of secondary concern (as there are ways to mitigate it), but any kind of animation is a pretty bad time on the low refresh rate of an eink screen. Would it be possible to have the option to disable the sliding text animation when turning pages and instead just have the new page pop onto the screen? That would make using this device with Logos even cleaner.
Thank you!
Tim

Yes, please add these features Logos! I've switched to using Logos on e-ink almost exclusively now, on Boox devices as well (nova air 2 and max lumi). Reading logos on e-ink is by far superior to any other screen technology from an eye strain standpoint. Removing animations to make it snappier would be amazing, as well as page turn support!

It truly is wonderful. Pairing it with the reading plans in Logos is just great.
I hope these are changes that could be implemented without too much hassle for the mobile app developers. It seems like it would bring Logos in parity with most other digital library / reader apps out there on Android.

Thank you for your feature requests, Timothy. This forum is primarily used to report bugs in the app, but please feel free to post your feature requests in Faithlife Feedback. We monitor these posts and take into consideration these feature requests when deciding what to implement next.

Hi Tim,
I am using a ONYX Boox Poke2 with Logos Mobile. Works fine. You can do two things to optimize the page turning. First check the refresh mode you are using (on my Poke device it is ranging Normal, Speed, A2 en X. Not sure how it is named on your Leaf device). You can reach the refresh mode by sliding from the top. Second: you can optimize the Logos App itself. By a long press on the icon the menu for optimizing opens. From there it is a little trial and error what settings suits you best. Which at times can be a little confusing. Plus the results are different for the different apps on my device. I am happy the way it works for me.
I think the e-ink reader market is (still) such a niche market that I do not expect any specific optimizing of Logos app for this kind of mobile devices.Enjoy your reading!
