Print/Export is broken for Search results window of specific morphological passages
I used to be able to print search results byPrint/Export directly to the printer. Now the message I get is "This panel does not support printing or exporting yet." What gives? I used to be able to do this from Logos 4 on.

Naveen,
What exactly are you looking to print? We're trying to understand our users' needs in this area. If it helps, it's still possible to print from Analysis view in morph search.

We're trying to understand our users' needs in this area.
Sometimes it is to give the list to somewhat who only uses hard copy Bibles.
Sometimes it is to create a list to work through in my print library.
Sometimes it is to export to another tool in which I can add additional information.t
What are your usage statistics compared to the print/export of guide sections or other "minor work" products?

Dear Mark,
Any search results I should have said. Whether searching a phrase, or a word or a morphological search. It will not allow me to print directly to the printer unless I have to save it as a passage list and then print which is ridiculous.

I print to mark up and write notes on the printed list of passages. It was available in v.9.

Mark,
I have the same issue. I like to do morphology searches with lemmas or roots and print the NA28 and ESV next to each other in the "passages" view. For me it's an easier way to look at the uses than the "analysis" view. I used to be able to do this in v. 9 but cannot in v. 10.

Dear Mark,
On my friend's computer who just had bought Logos 9 prior to the Logos 10 release, I was able to print directly from the search window. So this is now broken in 10. Need a fix.

Hi Mark,
This is Bryan Hoover (not Naveen), responding to your question about user needs for the Search results Print/Export feature:
1. I'm a long-time Logos user, and as part of my preliminary analysis of any New Testament book, I do separate morph searches (through the entire NT book) for each of the following Greek word forms: participles, imperatives, subjunctives, nouns, verbs, and adjectives.
2. I the display the results of each of those searches in the Aligned format, and export those Aligned results into separate tabs of an Excel workbook (so that workbook eventually contains tabs for Participles, Imperatives, Subjunctives, Nouns, Verbs, and Adjectives -- along with other tabs that I generate from various Concordance tool exports).
This export feature has worked well in the past several Logos versions, and I'm hoping to use it very soon this fall, as I'm leading a study in 2 Timothy. I really miss the export feature, and hope you can bring it back in the next Logos 10 SR. Thanks!

I'm glad that Verbum/Logos 10 still allows Print/Export from a Books search.

Dear Mark,
The issue is still not fixed in Logos 10.1 just released. Please make this a priority.0 -
Hi Mark,
Like Naveen, I was certainly hoping that Logos 10.1 would have enabled printing and exporting the Morph search results (in both the Passages and Aligned formats, but particularly the Aligned results). But since that didn't happen yet, let me add a few more remarks that illustrate how important this capability is:
1. In my workflows, it is occasionally useful to simply click on a verse that appears in the Morph search Aligned results (which Logos 10.1 supports), but I have found it to be far more useful to export those various results to multiple Excel worksheets in order to scan for trends and concentrations of different word forms throughout a book (and this "far more useful" capability is not yet supported in Logos 10).
2. If there's some good news here, it's that Logos users are not asking for a "new" Logos feature, but merely that the previously-working export feature be restored in Logos 10 (and print should be restored, as well).
3. The present situation is very undesirable, because while Logos 10 has attempted to improve the **creation** of searches (via the improved search syntax), Logos 10 has simultaneously crippled the ability to **use** those search results. The most important takeaway is that the ability to export search results (in every generated format) makes those results MUCH more useful than trapping those results inside the Logos application. The ability to export is the primary motivation for many searches!
4. In summary, the loss of this single capability is so significant that (for me) it outweighs all other Logos 10 improvements combined.
So let me again request (with all earnestness) that the Logos development team view the "lack of print/export" in Logos 10 as a serious regression that should be fixed as THE top priority task in the next service release.
Thanks very much, in advance!
Bryan

I can confirm this issue. When attempting to print/export/copy a simple list of verses from a very simple search (e.g. "Son of Man" in Mark), the print/export panel pops up with the message " "This panel does not support printing or exporting yet." If I save the search results as a passage list it will work (but that's an extra step that generates a document I have no interest in keeping)

Dear Mark,
The issue is still not fixed in Logos 10.1 just released. Please make this a priority. We are currently working on restoring this functionality for Bible and Morph search. We hope that will be available soon in a forthcoming beta - perhaps v22 beta 2 or beta 3, which are due out in the first half of December.

Mark - Is there any progress on restoring the Excel export feature?

Welcome to the forums. The beta to which Mark referred is near the end of the 6 week cycle. You can track the release notes and progress towards release at Logos Beta Release History

It was added back in beta 2. That should be released generally early this week.

While this is not the same, you can at least open an xml-file quite nicely in Excel.

that should not be necessary i.e. I should not have to search for an app that is not suggested in the right-click menu for "Open with"

but when you do it once and click "always open this file type with this app" it's good to go.

I'm not sure I understand. Your screen shot shows the Print/Export pane in export only mode. The function is called Print/Export whether it is print only, export only, or both.

The latest update, v 22.0 has not fixed the print/exhort issue in Bible search
Release notes indicated it was fix
- Print/Export functionality is available in Bible and Morph searches.
Sorry for the confusion. MJ, thank you for the response, that does help explain a little bit. The panel as a whole is technically referred to as Print/Export, but in this situation we have only added export functionality for these search types. I have updated the release notes to reflect that. Thanks for calling this out.

Looking forward to it. I sure have missed it

Yes, that is helpful.
The Logos 10 update changed the way the "print/export" looks.
Previously it would show what was to be printed or exported.
The export is working, but does not show the content until it is pasted somewhere.
Thanks

Used to be able to print the search page without having to export it. Looks like one thing has been corrected but the printing part has been left out still which was still functional in Logos 9 and older.

Which views permitted direct printing? I can still directly print chart views.

On the print/export window from the search page. It would show the passages (in that panel) either to print or to export to a specific document in rtf or word or excel.

On the print/export window from the search page.
IIRC I was never able to print the analysis view, only export it ... but my memory may be incorrect. I was in the habit of saving as a Passage List and printing it. But that habit may be a remnant of Logos 4 days if my search of the forum is any indication.
