How do you use Logos?

We'd love to better understand how our customers use Logos, whether that's the desktop, mobile or web apps.

Could you spend 45 minutes to an hour talking us through your current Bible study, sharing your screen via Google Meet as you do so? We want to see how you use Logos, so we can ensure Logos is meeting your needs and the needs of others like you.

We'll record the session and share highlights with our designers and developers. The insights we gain will help make Logos better for everyone.

What I'm most interested in is what a typical Logos session looks like (if there is such a thing!). We all study the Bible differently, so the more types of study I can see, the more I can help ensure Logos meets all users' needs. So there's nothing you need to prepare in advance, but please come able to demonstrate what you typically do (which can be the prep for your next sermon or paper - kill two birds with one stone).

I only do the following, as, I am bad with computers:

I read. I hi-lite. I take a few notes.

My point is that there will be others like me using Logos. Please do not forget about developing simple, effective stuff for us.

I don’t have a particularly unique way of using Logos. I’m a divinity student and set up a custom desktop layout for each of my classes. I keep my textbooks and references on the right side; and on the left I keep my Bible and various search, fact-book, dictionaries, etc on the left. What is unique about my workflow is that I keep my iPad on a mount that is set up so that I can quickly write down my notes into an app that is external to Logos (I used to use Evernote, but now use the native Apple Notes).

I think we should start thinking more about tablet apps as Logos Touch instead of Logos Mobile. I also have my phone in the same configuration, which I use for timers that tell me when to move on. The biggest thing is that I can handwrite a quick note easily by just grabbing the pencil and tapping the bottom right corner of the screen. I have been keeping a Bible open on my iPad so that I can use the draw on screen feature quickly, although I do need to take the iPad off of the mount to make my drawing- it is really easy to remove it from the mount. I could also just leave it on my desk like my old mini is in this photo.

For me, handwriting notes is a very important part of my learning process. I think the draw on screen feature would be more useful if it existed as a graphic layer on top of the text. I should be able to easily scroll through the text, highlighting should be fluid and fast, I should be able to drop a ‘sticky note’ onto the page and write, relocate, change colors, etc. The tablet device is mobile, but so is a laptop. The HUGE difference between a tablet and a laptop/desktop is touch. Humans have been using their fingers to scribble and scratch notes since we were huddled up by the fire in caves.

What I would like to see is an integration of touch into the overall Logos ecosystem that takes advantage of this key feature of tablet devices. Most folks who have a tablet also have a computer, but we don’t have to think of them as completely standalone devices. They work best when they are used together- the desktop can display tons of data, which I can digest and summarize into a note on the tablet. Logos Mobile is missing out on a great opportunity to make Bible study more experiential by integrating touch into the tablet apps.

Well, I don't have time , finishing dissertation about ground penetrating radar antennas. [:|]

Short description of my Logos usage:

- reading, with layout with many panels

- passage analysis, mostly browsing commentaries (trying to find also non-standard views), sometimes checking original languages

- would like to do more searches and factbook, but weeding the results takes time

- I often use Google to find information, for example to find geographic locations or history events.

It's similar to Zoom but doesn't require a download. We can video chat and you can share your screen.

I have a layout for study.... such as memorizing, remembering where things are at in the bible and for research on something in the bible.

I have another layout which I build lessons and such for teaching. In this layout, I have resources that will allow me to look into the properties of a bible book or person or thing. I also have in this layout resources by which I can cross reference a verse to other similar verses in the passage I am studying. Since L10... I have started using Search in Logos... and I use Passage Guide, Concordance, Bible Browser, Dictionary of Bible Themes and Text Comparison.

My day normally consists of .... memorization work, reading the bible, reading some book about some bible topic and working on my lessons. And I generally spend some time on research of some topic... That takes between 3-4 hours every day.

I know people that do all that without a bible program... I just find Logos saves me so much time in doing the work I do.

It's something I'll be doing regularly, but I want to ensure I'm asking the right questions.

These first calls are very open-ended: "show me how you use Logos". But future sessions are likely to be more focussed: "show me how you use layouts", or "show me how you use search", or "show me how you would find illustrations for a sermon", or "what are your biggest pain points when studying the Bible".

I paused registration because I'm still figuring out what the next question ought to be.

Best response I’ve seen. I can’t 100% use all of logos bc I can’t write any notes. Draw on screen is so close, but it needs to be a visual filter.
