Search no longer tells you how many hits it found?
This was probably introduced in Logos 10, but evidently I haven't noticed it until just now.
Search seems to no longer tell you how many hits were found in your Library.
If you search via the Books tab, it shows you only hits 1-100, though you can click "More >>" at the bottom to see more. At this point, you can keep scrolling endlessly to see more and more hits show up, no longer seeing the list of numbered pages of hits which had its detractors but at least gave you an idea of the total number of hits.
If you search in the All tab, it gives you the More view described above right away.
I don't mind that the paged listing of hits was done away with, but I kind of liked knowing how many total hits there were in my Library. Sure, I'm probably not going to look at them all, and hopefully the most important ones are within the first 100 hits. But it's still interesting to do a comparison of how frequent a certain word or name is in your library as compared to another one. You can do that on Google and I rely on it rather regularly. I used to do it from time to time in Logos too.
Just pointing out that I miss it.
Am I the only one? Or is it hidden somewhere that I'm not noticing it now?

It isn't hidden. It isn't there in All search. All search brings in too many other resources to be meaningful, IMO.
It is there for Books search. Group by anything but Library and it will appear.

Phew! Thank you.
But why doesn't a Books tab search default to group by Book?
And (this must be a bug), if I click to group the results by Book, the number of hits line appears (as you said it would), but then if I click to group the results by Library again, it stays.
If it's not supposed to be there when the Library grouping is selected after Book was previously selected, then it should have gone away again. And if it's OK for it to be there now after changing the grouping to Library, then it should have been there when I first did the search when Library was the default grouping.

Once selected, group by Book will become the default (I have Search as a tab in my layout).

Could you comment on what I wrote that I think is a bug? I'll report it in a separate thread if you agree that it's buggy behavior, though I admit it's VERY minor.

v22 incorporated a "New Feature" where "New Search panels initialize to last used search settings". So group by Book should become your default once selected. If it does not do that then you have a bug, but see my bug report regarding presentation of results from a single book.

That isn't what I meant in my follow-up comment. You'd already adequately explained about the default group by Book, and that's working for me.
I was talking about this (bold formatting and yellow highlighting added to emphasize what I think is minor unintended display behavior, aka a "bug"):

My point was I don't think the number of results line is supposed to show up when you're in Library view. You explained to me that it was by design that it not show up, and that I should be looking at it in Book view to see that line. So if that's the case, then it should consistently not show up in Library view. That it comes back again when you switch back to Library view from Book view is weird. And if they can show it there in this case, then why don't they when Library view is the default from having been previously selected?

Not arguing, just wondering why you (or they?) wouldn't want to know for 'Library'? I'd assume for smaller libraries that a user allocated against limited memory, the number would be useful. I tried out 'Salvation' as a metric.
Not that it seems to matter; the whole UI design wasn't well thought out. I was trying out 'Library' (I don't use 'cloud' ... they're not downloaded for a reason). But there's no apparent sort that I can see. What's the point?
Then I tried 'Books'. There is a sort (good). But I couldn't tell if 'Cloud' was included, since it said 'All Books'. So, to see if a cloud book was included, I sorted by Title, planning to scroll down to it. Nope. No can easily do ... and I don't even have super-large library. I still think they've needed new blood on UI design for quite a while.
Ok, back to Library.

I do want to know. I was just saying they are being inconsistent in how they implement this. If they are capable of showing that line for the Library tab, then why don't they do it all the time? I was being ridiculously (for the point of argument) literal in saying they shouldn't show it when you go back to Library if it wasn't there before. To make the point that it really should be there all the time.
the whole UI design wasn't well thought out
Agreed.

It is inconsistent. My BUG report called it out for single resource but I can now reproduce it for multiple resources and my preference is to see the number of results line.
