Probably not a Bug: Super-Speed Highlighting on a Mac M1

I guess because I've seen this spectacle, on other apps thru the years.

When you're highlighting (old days, a mouse, now a touchpad),  not being careful (historically), the highlighting can go either back or forward pages and pages.  Whoosh!

But, Logos, at least on the Mac version (latest, aka Verbum), can highlight a 'book' going backwards.  But can't go forward; not even a 'page' (scrolling, not paging).

Not important for me ... mainly accidental.  I do remember the years and years on the mobile, of people wanting to highlight across pages.  Interesting the Mac Logos desktop can't going forward ... at least on mine.

You are correct D this is super failing that has been about too long.

I have learned never to try highlighting from the end of a line to the beginning. Especially in Proclaim, where it seems particularly aggressive.

    I either

start the drag at the beginning of a line and drag to the end

    or

highlight one word and move to the end of the section I wish to highlight (forwards or backwards) hold Shift and then click at the appropriate point.

Yep ... probably right ... don't highlight backwards (or stomp on the highlighter brakes as quick as possible).

Regarding Logos/Mac's inability to highlight scrolling forward at all, I tried Accordance.  It doesn't seem to suffer from the super-backward highlighting.

But on the other hand, Accordance can't seem to highlight forward (scrolling), unless you scroll backwards first.  Maybe that's to prevent super-forward highlighting. Luckily both don't design cars.

    Have I understood the question?

    Is this your experience?

    Highlighting forwards and backwards.

Not sure what your screen capture is showing?

I'm only saying, in scroll-mode, the active highlighting stops at the displayed bottom. Can't scroll further as you highlight. Just the opposite going up ... scrolls and out of control.

Not sure why it is so long... but it shows a click, scroll, shift-click highlight. It is not a click and drag highlight, which is what I assume you are doing.

    Thanks, JT.

    I probably prohibit and can't watch.  True, I'm drag-highlighting.

The reason that it is so long. - 45seconds - is that I am incompetent at using the screen capture setting.  :-(

    It shows

    1. Drag highlighting past the bottom edge of the screen.

    2. Highlight one word move to a new position past the bottom of the screen and shift click.

    Both methods are working here.

    Appreciate it, Mike.

#1 doesn't work for me.  It's probably because I have the same software/version as you.  That could be it.  Or the same computer/version.  Probably more likely.

But most likely; my Mac doesn't watch videos from Safari.  That's the key!

Well, I called in the Logosian app research team to analyze this absolutely critical situation (that really doesn't impact me).

It turns out, all my verse-based resources drag-highlight up and down (as your video).  All my monographs only up; not down.  Now, looking at lexicons, my hebrew are up/down, while my latin are up only.

Being flumoxed (sp?), the team re-met, locating an entirely new principle ... resources touching the bottom of the layout are up only; resources not touching the bottom, are up/down.  This accounts for hebrew (near the top) vs latin (at the bottom).  Also all the monographs are bottom-touching.

Unfortunately, several team members are now threatening to quit, over this critical issue.  It seems, the new research doesn't apply to verse-based resources, which even touching the bottom, are up/down.

These team members would be better learning to cope with life's ups and downs.
