I Must be doing something stupid - Bible search tool

OK, granted I just installed LOGOS 10 yesterday. I have a Mac M1 running OS Ventura.

I am watching all of the tutorials and this is a very basic procedure which doesn't work for me:

1) Open up a Bible (any Bible)

2) Type a passage reference that I want to read - example: John 1:1-4

3) Hit Enter on my keyboard

4) It does not go to the passage - it does nothing

5) I also noticed in the tutorials when someone begins typing into the search area in the Bible tool, the name of a book of the Bible, the software begins to call out the book of the Bible as an option so you can easily select it. My software doesn't do this.

Is this in my Profile settings or something? Thanks so much!

Again, this is probably something stupid as I am a pure Newbie.

Welcome to the forums, Steve! They're one of the best parts of Logos, in my opinion. There are no stupid questions, so please ask sooner rather than later. We've all faced the uphill climb you're beginning.

If your finances allow for it, I suggest https://mpseminars.com/. Morris Proctor does Logos training very, very well. Logos is very powerful but also very complex, and it's worth getting some training on how to use your investment.

Hey Steve.... the Search feature in Logos has made me look and feel stupid many many times! But.... believe me..... L10 Search is better than L9 Search just because I feel less stupid! lol. [8-|]

Your start can be a bit smoother if you read the HELP function slowly. You are typing into a navigation box not a search box is an example where terminology helps set the right expectations. The relevant Help section can be found by click the resource menu (or tool menu) -3 vertical dots and click on the help link near the bottom.

What you describe sounds like the updated indexes weren't available to you -- a problem I am running into frequently and am trying to pin down for a bug report. Closing and reopening the application fixes the issue ... in the reopen you rebuild the stored index data.
