Kyle: Lord vs. LORD errors in the ESV-CE

I've been trying out using the ESV-CE as my top bible for the past week or so. I was using the text comparison tool to see the differences between the ESV and ESV-CE and I kept noticing that most of the differences in the OT were due to differences in capitalization of the word Lord/LORD. The ESV-CE includes the ESV preface which talks about how they render the divine name and there is no indication that the ESV-CE intended to deviate from that methodology. However, there seem to be mistakes all over the ESV-CE in rendering the divine name.

I have reported 32 of them with the typo tool. See this passage list for the ones I reported. I searched for phrases like LORD God (YHWH Elohim), Lord GOD (Adonai YHWH), 'LORD of hosts', and 'Lord GOD of hosts' since these were the easiest to search for. I didn't take the time to review all 6828 occurrences of YHWH in the OT but I do think someone at FL needs to take a look. Did the ESV-CE intend to make these changes? If so why not state that in the preface? Even if intentional the changes seem inconsistent and haphazard.

It's important for us to know which Hebrew word is behind the word Lord at a glance.

(Sidenote: the regular ESV seems to be wrong at Exodus 34:23 and 2 Samuel 7:22, they should say 'Lord GOD' instead of 'LORD God'. Compare NASB95/2020 and LSB. I reported those too but I also noticed that they're wrong in my ESV 2011 print edition as well so maybe Crossway just needs to be notified. Do you guys correct stuff when the publisher is wrong? I think this is simply a carry-over from the RSV since the RSV/RSVCE/RSV2CE and NRSV/NRSVCE/NRSVue have the same thing at those verses.)

I saw that the ESV-CE was updated yesterday so I took another look and saw that the initial errors I reported had been fixed (with the exception of the two that match the ESV which is understandable).

I started scrolling through the text comparison of the ESV and ESV-CE again just as a spot check and still spotted differences with the rendering of the divine name so a ran another search and found that errors (different from the ones I previously reported) remain after the update.

I only searched for:

(lemma.h:יהוה OR lemma.h:אָדוֹן) INTERSECTS Lord (with 'Match all forms' selected)

Again, this was an eye-check scrolling through the search results so not particularly scientific, I doubt it's exhaustive. All of these are correct in the ESV but incorrect in the ESV-CE. I didn't check for any other variations (such as with el, eloah, elohim, etc.). I just focused on LORD vs. Lord and Lord vs. LORD.

Hopefully at some point Faithlife can do a thorough and exhaustive check to make sure the divine name is accurately rendered in this bible.

@Kyle G. Anderson Just raisting this issue again. There are still Lord vs. LORD errors remaining in the ESV-CE. Does Logos plan do a thorough check and find and fix the rest of them?
