Highlighting - cannot highlight one line only

Hi there

As you can see from the video below, there are some situations where it is not possible to highlight just a single line.  I try again and again to highlight just the line 'For I delivered to you as of...' and it insists on highlighting 'you believed in vain'

Thanks

I wish they weren't so in love with sentences, they do an option.  Off!

Wow! How's that for an edit in the forum to prevent duplicates!  Five!!  I could delete I suppose.

    Hi Paul,

I have reported this problem to our team, so that we can investigate further.

Please keep in mind for next time, that problems experienced in Beta should be reported in the Mobile Beta forum.

FYI this has been an issue for a while, in release versions.

I am sorry Paul, I mistakenly assumed you were referring to a Beta problem.

If I look at your video, it looks like you first select the word "Scripture" and then work back from there, selecting other words, before eventually trying to reduce the highlight to the first line.

If I begin highlighting at the beginning of the verse, I am able to highlight as many or as few words as I like, including highlighting only the first line. Do you have a similar experience?

In my View Settings, I have "swipe to highlight" selected and "Smart text selection" de-selected.

Or perhaps you mean that you simply wish to be able to reduce or expand the highlight after you have already begun swiping?

No worries.  As you know the mobile app on Android suffers from a number of longstanding issues and only report them when they irriate me enough!

No, I cannot move backwards if I highlight downwards.  I had noticed this but hadn't bothered to report yet, as most of the time I want to highlight after reading something and so drag upwards.

Put simply, I am still selecting what I wish to highlight but Logos doesn't let me perform certain simple operations like returning, in the same action, when I've highlighted too much.  Or indeed selecting what I want!

    Does that make things clearer?

    thanks

    Paul

Thanks for the clarification, Paul.  I can now duplicate this in Stable and I have opened a ticket.

OK thanks Joe.  I appreciate the work that you have been doing on resolving issues with note taking in particular and this is now much more usable.  However there are still a number of basic functions, like highlighting, wrong tabs and reference opening and incorrect scrolling which are still open and unresolved.  Is there a timeline for restoring the app to a place where these functions work reliably?

    Thanks Paul.

I can confirm that we are working on those issues.  However any timeline is always subject to change, so I would rather not try to provide any ETAs.

Any update Joe? Its been almost 2 months and there are still a number of basic functions which are hard to use / non-functional.

The automatic selection of an entire sentence or verse with a single tap was problematic and confusing from day one during the beta, but FL refused to change the implementation and insisted on going live with the current design.

Compared with the Kindle app, and other similar reading apps like browsers, the Logos app's highlighting and scrolling up/down behavior is by far the most confusing and unnatural. I sincerely hope that FL will reconsider its design choices of this aspect of an otherwise fine mobile app, or at least provide users with some options.

Perfect opinion. Why not optional, so the devs can happily highlight sentences on their iPads. Click ... oh my!!

But if I were honest (pretty iffy), I've gotten used to the desktop on my MBP, and 3 Kindles by subject group.  The religious one is chock full. I doubt, that if the devs fixed the app, I'd re-load it.  Not a lost-customer, just a Kindle-onian now.  Changes your habits.

Paul,  I can confirm we are still working on those issues.  I am sorry it has been taking so long to fix them.

Paul M. ---- On my mobile android app... I can double tap a word then move the right "blue ball" and highlight whatever I want. Two words or three or a sentence.  Can you do this?

xn = Christan  man=man -- Acts 11:26 "....and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch".

Yes that does work on my end.  Although as you may see from the video this isn't quite the problem.
