I (and some friends) Search Google - instead of Logos...
This post will surely reveal my ignorance concerning Logos software, but I've talked to several users (just some friends) about this, and we all do the same thing.
For me, it's a three step process.
We're looking for the passage that says something like, "struggle is not against flesh and blood."
STEP 1 We search those words (minus the quotation marks) in the search field at the top of the screen and a pretty-much unrelated article comes up in the Factbook.
Nah... that's not what I wanted to see.
STEP 2 So we go to the search field above a Bible and type the same thing. There's that nice red 0 on the far right of the search field indicating nothing was found - maybe because I am searching in the wrong version?
STEP 3 Finally, we alt/tab to Chrome and search on Google. That never fails.
Obviously I eliminated steps one and two years ago, but I feel like I should be able to perform such searches successfully without going to Google. I shouldn't have to use search syntax just to find a Bible verse that Google can find so easily, right?
I am sure I am missing something that is as plain as the nose on my face, but I've not found it yet.
What am I missing?
TIA.

maybe - but we all learn new things about Logos software all the time.

That's because the field at the top of the screen is not only a search field, but much more. It will take commands, open tools and do a multitude of things, and will also learn from your usage of it. You can utilize it as a search input field in the past, but then you have to click hitting Ctrl-Return or such combinations (instead of simply hitting Return) or wait until the suggestions are displayed, then select the search you want. If you do so, you'll have immediate success.
STEP 2 So we go to the search field above a Bible and type the same thing. There's that nice red 0 on the far right of the search field indicating nothing was found - maybe because I am searching in the wrong version?
Good thinking! If you remember the verse in a specific version you can only find it there if you give all the words, fewer may sometimes be better. And if you remember only vaguely, no version may have exactly the wording you are putting in.
I was really wondering why if you want to search for a bible verse in Logos you don't simply do a bible search in Logos (which will look into all your versions)
EDIT: This will also help with vaguely remembered verses, for test I replaced "struggle" with "fight" in your example (which actually is how this verse reads in some translations, but assume this wasn't the case). Fuzzy search within the bible search has been created to find verses even then:

FANTASTIC.
That little search icon up there.... it's always eluded me, I guess.

I tend to do the same but for a different reason. My display is scaled up a bit in size, but the app doesn't scale very well with it. So I don't have much room for the actual verses in the verse list. All of the things that pertain to the search take up so much room there's nothing much left for the verses. I need to be able to collapse more than just the "Fuzzy Bible Search" and "Verses" headers, but I can't figure out a way to do it. So I just do my searches somewhere else. Is there a way to maybe remove a few of the search selection headers?

One other idea. Open a fuzzy search (or click this link) and then drag the window to your toolbar to make a shortcut that you can click to immediately go to a fuzzy Bible search.

totally agree. Google works great. Also works great for "bible verses on X topic"

"In Logos 10, the Passages / Fuzzy results etc are in separate tabs - does this help at all?"
That may help. Once my version updates I'll try it again to see if it's improved.

Ok, I realize this was purely a timing issue as I had been waiting for the application to update to the new version for the past 2 days. It updated right after I posted my reply above, and yes, it is 100% better. Not only is there more space, but the Bible version and the "Passages Aligned Grid Analysis Fuzzy" header scroll up out of view while scrolling through the verses. Quickest fix ever! [:)]

Good to know I'm not the only one who does this! Thanks for posting, this thread was a good clarification on the fuzzy bible search for me.
