There are two kinds of "read aloud" in Logos. The first is an audiobook. Most resources do NOT have this feature. Even when the audiobook is in logos, most of them are not tied to the actual text. The ESV is one which DOES have an audiobook tied to it. However, you must be connected to the internet to use it. The other kind of "read aloud" is the computer generated kind. The technology behind this comes from your device, not from Logos.
The audiobook reader is male, so I assume that was the "male" voice.
I actually don't know how to switch between these on mobile... Perhaps you tried doing read aloud when you wern't connected to the internet. Id suggest killing the app and trying again when connected.

Roland,
Please do the following to correct this.
1. While the ESV is reading aloud, open the audio player full-screen.
2. Then tap the “Voice” icon at the bottom right.
3. Make sure that the David Cochran narration is selected, and not any of the “Text to Speech” options.

How is your internet connection? This is an "online only" feature.

solid 5G or wifi at all times, still no ability to change back to the ESV voice. Thanks.

Im using the mobile app. The real issue is the read along feature withe ESV Audio App and the ESV book is not working. As soon as the text scrolls it switches to the read along voice feature of Logos. There is no option to change voices either in iOS Settings or in the App that I can find
As for your suggestions

Joshua and Roland,
Please accept my apologies.
The instructions I provided previously are not relevant for your problem.
This is a bug which will be fixed in a forthcoming update.
In the meantime, a possible workaround is to use the English Standard Version Audio resource from Library, instead of the English Standard version itself.

Any idea how long it will be until the update fixes this? Can the ESV Audio resource tie in to the reading plans?

Hi Joshua,
I cannot give an ETA, but we are currently working on fixing this.
The ESV Audio does not directly link to ESV reading plans. So the text of the ESV is available to be heard, but you would need to navigate to the correct location for the current reading.
This of course, not as convenient as what you are used to doing, and I do apologize for the inconvenience.

I am glad I found this thread. I thought I was going crazy trying to figure out what happened and how to get the narrator I had back.

Thank you for posting! At least now I can stop fiddling around for a fix that doesn’t exist. I hope this bug-fix is a priority—it has really messed me up! I’m glad nobody was around to see my face when the computer voice suddenly butted in and took over. 😂

This is particularly a shame since I was only following a prompt that came up in the iOS Logos App to try out enhanced voices. I didn't go searching or fumbling around for this to happen! Hope it gets fixed as a high priority.

This has been fixed in the stable version we just released today: 24.0.0 (51).

You just made my day! I just updated and sure enough, there is that wonderful, real voice again. Thank you for getting this fixed.

is it fixed in Mobile app? Mine is still sitting on 23.x. With App refresh enabled in settings

I had that observation also. But when I opened the App Store, searched for the app, there it gave the option to Update. That did the trick.

I am not sure what “app refresh in settings” means, but the update is available in the iOS App Store.
