Hi,

Recently when I create a new note on my phone I do not have any formatting.  Also I am having issue recently when I open a notes on my phone all the formatting disappears if it were created on my laptop.  If I open and close I think it stays the same but if I touch it or just click on it for editing the formatting is all gone.   So creating a new note has no formatting and opening a note created on my laptop loses the formatting.   Seems like something with my phone has changed lately.   Very frustrating because I use notes a lot taking notes in church.

My phone is a

Samsung Galaxy S23

running Android 13

ONE UI version 5.1

Logos version 23.0.3

Thanks,

Greg

Taking notes by typing on the mobile app is slo-o-ow. That's why I take notes in church on paper ant transcribe them later with the desktop app. The mobile app during church is treated as a read-only tool.

    Just my two cents.

Hi Greg, I'm unable to reproduce your Notes formatting issues right now. Can you please provide screenshots?

I agree the Notes could be more user friendly and have more options.  But it works until recently

Hi Ali,  I am attaching a 4pics.  Before and after from the laptop and phone.  I created a note on my laptop then opened it up on the phone and it looks correct(LaptopBeforePic and PhoneBeforePic).  Then after I click on the note on the phone you will see the next 2 pics from phone and laptop what it looks like(LaptopAfterPic and PhoneAfterPic).

You can see the text in the after pics the font is all the same and the font color matches what was in the first line of the note "light orange".  I actually tried to do this again with another test note and the first line was green.  This time when I opened on the phone and clicked on it it did the same thing but the text was all green.  So whatever the text color of the first line in the note is that is what it all changes too and the font size and style is all the same too.

Thank you for the details and screenshots, Greg. I have a few more questions as we try to reproduce this issue.

    1. Was your note originally created on the desktop app, web or mobile?
    2. Was this a new note or an existing note? If it was an existing note, can you reproduce your issue with a completely new note?
    3. Are you able to share the note on mobile once it has lost its formatting?
    4. Can you reproduce the issue with a two-line note?
    5. Can you please provide detailed, step-by-step instructions?

I apologize for the lengthy request, but I am working with a couple developers on this issue and we are all unable to reproduce the issue, so having the answers to these questions will help us nail it down quicker.

    Thank you in advance!

    1. Was your note originally created on the desktop app, web or mobile?     yes on the desktop app
    2. Was this a new note or an existing note? If it was an existing note, can you reproduce your issue with a completely new note?   It was existing because I had already created it when I opened it up on my phone app.   I just created a new note with different formatting and then opened it on my phone and it did the same thing. All formatting changed to what the formatting of what the first line was. Default(Source Sans Pro), Font Size 16, Bold, Purple color
    3. Are you able to share the note on mobile once it has lost its formatting?   What do you mean by "share the note"?
    4. Can you reproduce the issue with a two-line note?     I created a new note with 2 lines and could not reproduce
    5. Can you please provide detailed, step-by-step instructions?    see below

I think I see the scenario how it happens now.

Creating a new note from scratch it seems to work fine.  But if I copy from a previous note and paste into a new note then this issue happens.  I created myself a sort of template for my notes so when I need to create a new note I copy the data(Template data formatted) into my new note.  Here are steps below.

    1. Create new note on desktop app
    2. Open note used for template and copy contents
    3. Go to back to new note and paste data there
    4. then add new notes to the new note that I pasted into
    5. save note
    6. open note on phone app
    7. click on note to put cursor
    8. the note format is changed so that all the data in the note is changed to look like whatever the first line of data in the note looks like (font type, font size, font color, etc )

    Thanks,

    Greg

Thank you for the extensive details, Greg. Several of us have investigated this further and are not able to see any issues on our end. However, we just shipped a new version to the stable app on Friday, March 10th: 23.0.5 (1230005108). Can you please update to that version and let me know if you see any improvements?

This update was for Android. The iOS stable update will ship in a few short weeks.

Ali,  I downloaded the Beta version while testing for this fix.  It works now.  Do I need to uninstall this Beta version and install the regular version now?  And how do I do that?

    Greg,

Instructions for joining and leaving the Beta are available here.

You are free to stay in Beta, but it is experimental.  It is less consistently reliable than the Stable version.

I would not recommend using Beta for your only installation of our app.

First time seeing this thread. I have had this same problem in the past. Notes that I had extensively marked up were completely wiped out...just text compressed in left justified format. It happened as soon as I clicked into the text box...*ding*...gone. I'm slightly happier to hear this is fixed, but I'm not convinced.

I am not exaggerating when I say that Logos has become almost entirely unusable except as a reading platform. Almost every time I attempt to do something, I encounter some glitch that turns my efforts into a monumental chore. I have spent far more time trying to fix and/or overcome obstacles the program creates than I have accomplishing anything useful.
