Also in case the developers are not familiar with LOTH, all the readings are not the same as those found in a Bible; the words are often different.
Like the hymnal portion, this is due to licensing issues.
See Provide "ribbons" for books that require the user to flip between sections | Faithlife for a possible solution.
If you add the LOTH to the home page lectionary layout, it will open to the correct day

Hi David,
In my Catholic Daily Readings layout, I have a calendar devotional called "Word Of Life: Daily Scripture Companion", a daily reflection/meditation on the readings of the day; this resource is included with the Daughters of St. Paul package which includes Advent Grace and Lenten Grace, both of which are excellent. Anyways, I have this Word Of Life resource in a link set with the Catholic Daily Readings, and even though the address/location/date of Catholic Daily Readings says "February 1, 2023" today, the linked Word Of Life reports that today is "Ord Time 4 Wed". You and I -- and Word Of Life, and some employees at Verbum responsible for linking -- know that these two dates are identical, although unfortunately LOTH only recognizes one of then (Ord Time 4 Wed) as a valid location. So, my shortcut is to make sure to snag the "liturgical date" from Word Of Life with a Ctrl-C while I'm reading the normal readings of the day, then when I jump to my LOTH layout, I paste it into the address/location/date box to jump to today's readings. Since I save the layout every time I use it, I'll be able to navigate thru the rest of the weekdays easily until the next Sunday/Monday. If Verbum could make LOTH recognize today's "liturgical" date (like Word Of Life), I bet it would a) navigate automatically most of the time, and/or b) at the very least make the Today button work better.
RE: difficulties with navigating/jumping back and forth, I open multiple copies of LOTH in different panels in my layout. So, in one pane, I'll have LOTH open to today's liturgical date open to the hour we're praying; in another pane, I'll have another instance of LOTH open to Week IV of the Four-Week Psalter, using today as an example. A third pane has Bibles in a link set, a fourth pane has a Saints calendar devotional. For feasts/memorials, I'll have the feast day open in the first pane, and the Commons of Pastors/Virgins/Doctors/Apostles/etc. open in the center.
I've gotten better using the LOTH as the months (years?!) have gone by, and I'm glad to have it in my library, and I'm glad I stuck with it.

You lost me -- it does recognize Ord Time 4 Wed i.e. the liturgical date.

Brian is referring to the 'Today button'.

I don't know if this would help the licensing issues, but the Liturgy of the Hours is being revised with a second edition..
I wonder if Logos/FaithLife/Verbum acts quickly enough if they can secure ALL the rights for an electronic resource. Let everyone else do what they are already doing - it's of no significance to me, I want this resource in Verbum, I don't want to use another application, that defeats having LOTH interface with my entire library. I have printed books, the printed books have a GUIDE.
There is a guide that explains where the ribbons go: https://www.liturgyofthehours.org/_files/ugd/b4d491_553e81b7f34b43c49f07297fded831f2.pdf
This website has an accessible LOTH. https://divineoffice.org/accessible/Can Verbum publish a GUIDE? If we could have this in electronic resource, with clickable links, the objections would be all solved.
https://catholicbookpublishing.com/product/1589 Handy guide that facilitates use of THE LITURGY OF THE HOURS (Product Code: 409/10 or 409/13) by providing clear, accurate references for each day of the period specified.
This is the GUIDE we need, it's published every year. There is another Guide for the smaller "Christian Prayer" - this is for the full LOTH like Verbum has.
Be well,
David

I bet you're even working on making sure you'll be able to sell the next edition worldwide! [;)]
