Confused about Software vs. Features vs. Base Library

Hello All,

A few years ago I invested in Logos and bought a Base Library. I don't have a need at this time to upgrade to a higher-level library, but I want to make sure I am keeping my version of Logos updated. I am confused how to access and implement any free upgrades without compromising my existing library or saved data. I'm not even sure which Base Package or version I am currently using. The attached screen shot shows my current package and versions. Grateful for any guidance. Thank you!

    Hi David,

Logos has simplified this. Your software will automatically get any free updates from now on. Upgrades with Logos will never compromise your saved data or existing library and almost any other purchases will be prorated based on what you already own. The only real exception is Logos 10 Fundamentals, a $50 super-discounted package targeted to new users who would not get much of a discount anyway. But if you just want the software up to date, you do not need to do anything.

Hi Justin, thank  you for your speedy response! I am confused because the info page insie of my Logos software seems to be inviting me to download Logos 9. The screenshot I uploaded to the forum shows I am (apparently) using version 8.17.xxx and also using Version 9 Free. Does this mean I am using the latest automatic updates? If yes, why is Logos offering me a link which invites me to "Get Logos 9" and "Get Logos 9 Feature Set"?

My best guess is that your computer is too old to run Logos 9 (or 10), given that you have access to the free Logos 9 feature set but are still running Logos 8. You or anyone else in your situation can potentially prove me wrong by typing "Update Now" into the GO Box at the top of Logos, hitting Enter/Return, and downloading whatever update (if any) becomes available.

Thank you for your responses to my post. I have successfully upgraded to Logos 9. It was not automatic, I had to do it manually. Not sure why my desktop version of Logos never performed the automatic update to Logos 9. Now I know how to do this manually. I will keep my eye on this in the future. Thank you all!

Sorry David, that was my mistake. The upgrade from 8-9 was not automatic, but now Logos has simplified the process so the upgrade from 9-10 and beyond will be automatic. I apologize for not looking at your screenshot more carefully and causing confusion!

    Hi David

If you press the Quote button when replying it will avoid the confusion of others not knowing to whom/what you are responding (as per my reply, where I edited your response to show what was important).

FYI, you can always tell what post someone was replying to by clicking the "Replied" link on their post. So if a newbie doesn't know to quote what they are replying to, more experienced folks can still tell using this subtle trick. [;)]

Thank you friends for this helpful coaching. Yes I'm a newbie to Logos forums (but not new to Logos).

You're welcome! I'm glad the manual update did the trick.
