Slow Typing Response in Notes [Logos 10]
I've been using Logos 9 for about two years now. It is amazing software, but my biggest complaint is how slow it is to type a note. I upgraded to Logos 10 because it is supposedly faster, but I still have the same problem.
The application lags so badly that I am using Notepad to type my notes first and then I copy and paste into Logos. Looking back into the forums of previous Logos versions, it seems that this has been a problem for some time. Is there anyway to get this fixed in future updates?

Welcome to the forums, Joseph.
You did not mention which version or computer hardware you are using. I can't type fast enough to see any delay.
Here's my guess: A faster storage medium (solid state drive instead of disk drive) and/or more RAM memory might well fix it.
Blessings,

Thanks, Jack! Forgot to place that info into my previous comment. It would have been helpful! Here it is:
Edition Windows 11 Home
Version 22H2Processor 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz 2.80 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Storage: 512 GB SSDHere is a short, low resolution video of my screen that I created in case you want to see what's going on. If you need a higher resolution, I'd be happy to create a new one.

Thank you for your help!

Another guess: Do you see this lag in any other application? If yes, there might be a background process that is looking at each keystroke, which would slow down what appears on the screen. If that's not the problem, then I'm all out of ideas.

I have the same problem and it was especially laggy yesterday. I think it has something to do with the notes tool constantly syncing as you type. Maybe FL servers were slow last night.

Thanks for reporting this. We have written up a case and passed it along to the team.

Thanks for the reply, Jack! No, there's no lag in any other application.

Thank you! Notes is one of the tools I use the most in Logos, but it's also the most frustrating. I really appreciate your looking into fixing it in a future update.

This issue was also in version 9. There are comments about version 10 there as well:

Just to confirm I have the same issue with very similar computer specs to Joseph. Problem unique to notes section of Logos.

Yup, I had the problem with Logos 9, which is why I made the upgrade after hearing about how Logos 10 was faster. But it is just as slow in the notes section, which was the only section I really cared about. 😕

Yep, I have the same experience that you've had. I will often finish typing a couple words, and have to wait a second before they show up. I do hope they fix that soon. It's extremely frustrating.

I am having the same problem on a Microsoft Surface Pro 8 specs below:

16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)

I was also having this issue after purchasing a new laptop this past week, but I believe I've found the solution. My new laptop has an 11th gen intel i7 processor. I was not having any issues on an older intel laptop, or on my desktop with an AMD processor. The new laptop, however, lagged considerably, and this was especially noticeable when typing (e.g. in the sermon editor, in notes, in search, etc.)
I discovered that the lag was somewhat less when I would lower my display resolution (from native 4k to 1080p). This leads me to suspect there's some kind of issue with Logos and newer 11th gen intel processors (probably moreso with the Iris Xe graphics on them).
The solution I found was to go into program settings and turn "Hardware Acceleration" to "On." I'm honestly not sure why it was set to "off" on my PC to begin with, but this has completely solved the problem for me.
I hope this helps some of you as well.0 -
I changed the Hardware Acceleration to on, and it is worse! Sermon manager is virtually unusable in its current state! I have no problem whatsoever with any other application, and this problem only started with my change to logos 10.
I have a brand new, significantly upgraded Surface Pro with Windows 11.
Please help!
Ben

Hi Ben

This has worked for me, and made the whole of Logos blindingly fast! Thanks!

Thanks for sharing this tip, Cody! Unfortunately, I tried it and it didn't work for me. I have an Intel EVO i7 processor, and the tooltip box said that Hardware Acceleration doesn't work on all Intel chips. Maybe my chip's the one out of luck.

EVO is not a processor. What is the full name of your i7 processor (from Settings > About). When i7-11xxx (11th Gen) processors came out there was a fault with the Intel video driver but the fix should have flowed thru to your computer manufacturer's version by now. The latest driver from Intel suits my laptop, so I had no problems with Notes and videos once I was a able to use Hardware Acceleration. If the Driver Provider is Intel (in Device Manager > Display Adapters) then use their latest driver.

The driver provider is "Intel Iris Xe Graphics."
And it says that I've already got the latest drivers.

Go to the Intel site and download their Driver and Support Assistant.

Joseph, Sorry you're still having trouble. Have you tried updating your drivers directly from Intel's website? Sometimes computer manufacturers and windows won't detect that a newer driver has been released by Intel. You can go here and use Intel's update tool to check.
If this doesn't work, I don't know what else to try aside from reinstalling Logos. I hope this helps!0 -

THIS!! I've been limping for 6 weeks waiting for the techs will get around to a fix.
A simple click of a setting and today I am screaming through my journalling. TRY it, if it doesn't work you've lost nothing.

IT WORKED! PROBLEM SOLVED!! [:D]
I downloaded the Intel update tool (Download Intel Drivers and Software) like you said, then turned on the "Enable Hardware Acceleration" setting in Logo's Program Settings, and now typing in Notes works is just as fast as typing in any word processor.
Thank you, Cody and David, for all of your help to solve this problem. I really hope Logos tech support can somehow mark this as a common issue on their troubleshooting forums. It is not an intuitive fix at all.
Thanks, again, everyone!!

I'm having this same issue. I came here to see if there is a solution. My computer's specs are below:
Processor 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-1115G4 @ 3.00GHz 3.00 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.66 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processorNone of my other programs have this issue when I type. It is a Logos issue.

Hi Rick,
Have you tried enabling hardware acceleration in Logos's menu? This solved my problem and seems to have worked for several others here.0 -
Yup, that fixed it! I should have read the responses carefully first before asking. What a relief!

My Logos notes typing has been running slow for a long time. These two things fixed it. Weird that there isn't just a global fix for this.
