As a longtime logos user with a 3K + library I don't think this new policy had me in mind when they announced it. I understand the need to save money and extract a bit more but I'd rather just hear that the birthday policy is changing.

Bit of a PR spin if you ask me, but them its my choice to stay isn't it.

Yeah, I kind of thought so, too, but I also wondered how sustainable a blanket free $20 credit is for a company with a downsizing oriented approach to sustainability.

I've always wondered if the person writing the copy, actually believes what they're writing (and thinks other human beings are similarly intelligent).

But probably Faithlife has an excessive number of customers ... and an excessive number of birthdays! Best to cut back both.

I agree. I don't mind the change, but I really dislike this type of marketing speak that kind of looks like gaslighting: "We're doing this thing you probably won't like but here's why it's good for you..."

We're not dumb customers. We understand that you can't pay for 1 million otherwise non-paying customers to get a free $20/year in freebies that you have to still pay for, and it's not enough to make up for the number of customers to use it to discount a bigger cart.

I'd rather just have some transparency. "The birthday program isn't sustainable in it's current form, so we're going to change it in a way that let's us continue to offer it..."

Yeah, I might have said it a little differently, also.

if December is long enough for me to really need the other $30 of resources, the $20 will be nice. Otherwise, it will quietly lapse.

Now, let's see how they word it when the Free Book Of The Month changes and what the reaction will be.

The very worst thing for me, in this context, is that Faithlife will need to retrench so much that new products cannot be swiftly brought to market and old products cannot be brought up to new standard.

If any change reduces the chance of either outcome it is good news and is for my benefit.

Several people on the forum have talked about having multiple accounts. If they use their birthday coupon on more than one, Logos is paying out royalties on resources that will never result in an actual sale. That added cost hurts real users over the long run in the form of higher prices. A minimum order amount to prevent that makes sense. If 40% is their normal margin, think of it as Logos letting you get a $50 at their wholesale cost for your birthday, waiving their royalties. I expect to survive the change.
