Adding a note to a single word (selection) AND only a single Bible version

Scenario:  I have 4 bibles open.  The KJV is my preferred bible, but I also have the NKJV, ESV and NLT open.

I'm on the verse:  Phil. 4:13.  I want to add a note to the word 'which'

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

I right-click on the word 'which' and on the 'selection' window I chose to add a note.  All is good so far.  I see the anchor for KJV 1900.  I add the note.  I see the yellow note indicator next to the word 'which'.

Now here is where it breaks down.  I go to my other open bibles (NKJV, ESV, NLT) and they also have the yellow note icon.  The problem is none of these translations have the word 'which' in the verse so the note icon is thrown somewhere in the verse that doesn't make sense.  In the NLT, the icon is actually put in twice at different parts of the verse.  I don't want these Bible versions to have the note at all - as it isn't appropriate for these versions.

How do I target a single bible version for a note - and not have it propagate to all other versions?

Welcome to the forums. I think you have the answer:

    • If you attach the note to Selection, it appears only in the one Bible
    • If you attach the note to Reference, it appears in all Bibles (and more)

If this doesn't look like it is happening, check your visual filters. Is "Notes and Highlights (Corresponding)" turned on. Turn it off and see if the results are now what you expect.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Ah, nice!  For a minute I was thinking this wouldn't work because most of the time I do want the notes shared amongst versions.  But then I saw this is by Notebook.  So I can put these 'word' study type notes into a single Notebook and then turn that off.  I appreciate the answer.
