eBible Expanded Edition - what is locked and unlocked?

First time post.

I recently purchased the Nelson Ebible Expanded edition - http://www.thomasnelson.com/consumer/product_detail.asp?sku=1418513164&dept_id=-1&TopLevel_id=-1&title=eBible_Expanded_Edition

On the box, it said "$3500 in print value" and the contents list on the back is extensive, but gives no indication that any of the contents are locked. It has stuff I already have in Logos 4, but I purchased it because I found it for a relatively inexpensive price, and it also had many resources that I didn't have but wanted.

But when I put in the disk to copy the contents I wanted to my hard drive, it looks that the contents I want (for example, the Lucado Life Lesson guides and Macarthur Bible study guides) are in fact locked? Can anyone confirm this? I would like to know this before I go to the trouble of trying to install these resources.

If in fact these are locked (meaning that they aren't actually included in my purchase, and I have to purchase it separately, right?), it seems that the content list on the box is misleading, and should have at least indicated what is a locked resource and what is unlocked.

This is weird to me. It says Libronix library but to me it is indicating a different software package from L3 or L4. I really don't know though. it's really strange.

If you are interested in Lucado, MacArthur or other authors by Thomas Nelson you should have bought their LifeWorks Libraries instead of any eBible ed. The best way is just go to either Amazon, Google shopping or eBay. it's a real bargain. Unlocking these authors it's much more expensive.

Could you explain? It appears from the chart I referred to above that he has purchased the rights to these resources. The only explanation my research turned up was that there may be an older, less expensive version of the resource (perhaps L2?). But the Libronix version should work for him.

I actually saw that list at the other website of the contents I was getting. That's why I purchased this one set, so I wouldn't have to purchase separate lifeworks libraries for different authors. I know there have been various versions of eBible, but the one I purchased is circa 2007. It doesn't make sense to me that these resources are locked.

The natural thing to do is install them! Copying will not do anything.

It means you need L3 but go ahead and let the CD install/copy (run Setup.exe if it doesn't start automatically). It would be preferable to do this on an XP system if L3 is not installed on Vista/Win7.

To expand on what Dave said, you need to 1) install the eBible Library (this is a L3 product and it will not directly install into L4); 2) Using the L3 Tools|Library Management|Synchronize Licenses command make sure your new resource licenses are saved to your account on the Logos server; 3) If you want to use these new books in L3 you need to use the Tools|Library Management|Location Manager command to transfer the books from BOTH CDs to your hard drive, 4) If you are a L4 user simply restart L4 and it will download your new license and books automatically.

Thanks for the input everyone. I'll give it a shot and see what happens. I'm just a little confused as to why some of the resources are unlocked and some are locked prior to installation, if in fact I'm purchasing everything.

Installing is the only way to tell Logos that you have purchased this product. Because this is a boxed product, not a book you unlocked directly from Logos, they have no way of knowing that you have purchased these books. It is also not enough to place the disk in your computer and copy the files to the L4 directory or to have L4 Scan this disk. It must be installed as an L3 product AND synced to the Logos server before L4 knows that you own this these resources.
