Threshold for popular highlights
Is there a way to set the threshold for popular highlights? On some books nearly every word is highlighted, so the popular highlights feature becomes meaningless.
This feature would be more useful if the user could enter a number next to the Popular Highlights Visual Filter. For example, if I enter 30, a highlight will not show up unless 30 people highlighted this text.

I think there is a threshold similar to that, but the value could be 10 or so users.
If the highlighting gets to be as overwhelming as your screenshot, just turn it off.

I turned mine off. I like the idea but so many of my books looked like the OP's - basically just an eyesore!
Perhaps instead of using some kind of a hard threshold (like 20 people have highlighted this), instead do some kind of sliding scale and only show the most highlighted stuff. So if the book is heavily highlighted, it's only going to show the top % of whatever of highlighted text.

The threshold is 5. It was 5 for a long time, then maybe 6 months ago I saw 4, now 5 again.

'4'. Frank Thielman: 'Paul and the Law', p. 92, I find two '4 people highlights.'
I have never seen a '3.'

This makes a lot of sense. "Popular" should be relative to the amount of highlighting in the book. This would make this feature more valuable for books that are highlighted by a lot of people. It would be a sort of poll based on the people who participated in highlighting the book.

You should make this suggestion at Roadmap | Faithlife I suspect it could gain substantial support.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

I like Donnie's suggestion too. It makes a lot of sense.

On a related note, does anyone know if we can show ONLY the popular highlights in a book?

Yes, it has its own toggle box (box to click in) in the Visual Filters

That toggle box is for showing or hiding Popular Highlights in a book.
What I'm looking for is a way to show ONLY the popularly highlighted text, but not the rest of the text in the book. Can that be done?

Not really although I can think of a couple of ways it might be possible to fake it. But as I never use popular highlights and I never want to extracted highlights from the full text (I do understand why this is commonly requested), I'm not familiar enough with the quirks of this part of the program to know if either of my kludges would be completely successful.
