I'm not one who have done advanced searches before so I have no clue how to phrase this type of search. Not just quotes but inferences as well.
Any help would be appreciated.
Here is a good article by EE Ellis. https://www.biblicalstudies.org.uk/pdf/bbr/jesus-ot_ellis.pdf
This is something I a while back ago for a class.
Try the New Testament Use of the Old Testament Interactive - in the screenshot I've filtered it to just show references to Genesis
Thanks so much.
I'm assuming it's 'all', or one book? I was trying 'gospels' (the OP).
Nice there's an alpha sort!
Sorry to be so numb but how do I execute this kind of search?
You're not numb ... many with same question.
1. Do you own 'New Testament Use of the Old Testament Interactive'? To check, click on Tools (top horizontal menu). It'll be far, farr down the tools menu.
2. Open it. Then select from the filters on the left (see Graham's screen copy):
- Book (Source) > Genesis
- Book (NT) > Matthew (then Luke, etc ... one at a time)
- To see and clear your choices, there's a breadcrumb trail right above the results
- To choose what type of reference, select from 'Type'.
And ask again ... everyone learns!
I looked online and it says I own the book but when I went to open it in Logos it says it is one of my print books. Not sure what that means.
Did you go to 'Tools'? It's not a book.
You can also do it with a Bible search for label:(intertext AND source:Gen)
Ok I found it. I hadn't downloaded it. Is there a quick way to load all the datasets or the interactive ones or do they have to be loaded one by one?
Justin, Could you break this down for the simple minded?
Is there a quick way to load all the datasets or the interactive ones
You can download all interactives in one go using the following steps:
That should download them all.
Please post back if any of this doesn't make sense or doesn't work.
All or Bible or Book Search can use Bible Book Abbreviation: label:(intertext AND source:Ge)
Right Click on Life in Revelation 2:7 has Context Menu that shows Labels on the Left Hand Side (LHS). Clicking a Label has Right Hand Side (RHS) choices, which includes various Searches:
Justin's search for label:(intertext AND source:Gen) looks for source Bible reference in any corpus with any relationship.
Books Search shows example intertext label only being found in Bibles.

Is there a quick way to load all the datasets or the interactive ones You can download all interactives in one go using the following steps: Open the Library Enter the string type:interactive in the find books search box (this will filter your library to all the interactives you own) Select the first one by clicking it (avoid clicking the title as that would open it) Then select all of them using Ctrl-A (Windows) or Cmd-A (Mac) Open the Information pane (using the sidebar icon on the top right) Select the Download option That should download them all. Please post back if any of this doesn't make sense or doesn't work.
Worked great. Thanks
Thanks for breaking it down. All these searches are so confusing.
