M1, M2, M2Pro?
Still working through which mac to get. By the time I decided on at LEAST 512gb and 16gb of unified memory, the M2 Pro was only a modest step up in price.
Anyone have any experience with any of the processors? I have an M1 in my laptop, and have not been unhappy with it.

Logos does very well on my 2014 Macbook Pro - but the computer itself is getting pretty old and other apps choke or run slow sometimes.
I am holding out for the 15" Air, but I might try to REALLY hold out and wait for the M3. Doesn't look like this year though. I also have a 2019 iMac and everything is nearly instant on Logos.
I can't imagine how fast these M chips must be...

Laptop Magazine => Spending more than $2,000 on a MacBook Pro is just setting money on fire - here’s why includes a storage consideration. M2 Pro with 1 TB is noticeably faster than 512 GB due to parallel read & write. The 512 GB SSD has two NAND storage chips while 1 TB+ has four.

Amazon Renewed has 2021 MacBook Pro 16" with M1 Pro 16 GB & 1 TB SSD for $1,689.95 => https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09Q4GQRXZ that has 90 day return option so looking forward to finding out soon if 16 GB is adequate for my Logos library that has many visual filters.

Keep me posted. I don't use many visual filters. I probably don't use half of the power of Logos like I ought.Amazon Renewed has 2021 MacBook Pro 16" with M1 Pro 16 GB & 1 TB SSD for $1,689.95 => https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09Q4GQRXZ that has 90 day return option so looking forward to finding out soon if 16 GB is adequate for my Logos library that has many visual filters.

However, I did settle on the 512gb 16gb Mac Mini M2 for under 800 new in box. For how I use Logos, its been excellent so far. I am hanging onto my PC for a while, but I doubt that I'll keep upgrading it. I added an additional TB of storage by purchasing a dock that could handle an M.2 SSD. Not as fast as the internal drive to be sure, but I only store my slow data on there any way. Sermons, and so forth. Video will play from there just fine. Logos is on the 512gb, and should be adequate storage for at least another cycle of upgrades. Will revisit my hardware after 11 is created and released

So far, the M2 512 16gb has been fantastic for my purposes. Planning to replace the computer I use at church with it in the new year, and will see what's out there as a replacement at that point. Maybe an M2 Pro, 2tb with 16gb or more. I'd be able to do a bit more with video that way. I use my home office machine more than the one at church.
But the Pro would let me use all three monitors I had with my PC in my home office. The Mac mini would be replacing an aging second gen i5 with 4gb of ram at the church.

You can’t go wrong with any of the M-series processors when it comes to Logos. It runs exceptionally on all of them.
I would just say make certain you have enough SSD space. I got 1 TB on my M1 MBP two years ago because I was only going to run it as a secondary machine. It’s been tight on space for my purposes. I wish I’d gotten the 2 TB model.

I am a strong believer in at least 1 TB and 16GB of unified memory. I have 2 TB and already down to 1.2 TB left. Apple released several M2, M2 Pro, M2 Max, and M2 Ultra machines during WWDC. The prices for a Mac mini with M2 and M2 Pro look pretty decent.
I personally use a 14" M1 MBP... It has 16GB ram and 512 drive. I would caution against giving Apple their exorbitant prices on hard drives. External USB-C drives are WAY cheaper than Apple's internal drive prices. YMMV of course.
By the way, the M1 series chips are just silly good. Expecially this M1 Pro chip.

Gerold,
I agree that external drives are way cheaper. My issue with them has been that I have a number of drive failures....I would say it would be smart to have a couple of them.

Thankfully 2021 MacBook Pro 16" with M1 Pro 16 GB & 1 TB SSD works well using native apps: no reason to install Rosetta & no reason to return.
Thankful Amazon Renewed MBP came with 100% Battery, which was better than promised/expected.

I purchased my first Mac and decided on a 14" MBP M2Pro chip 2TB drive and 16 gigs of unified memory. Thought about 32 gigs of memory but decided way more than I would need. Not really computer savvy so went by reviewer comments and friend suggestions. Best laptop I have ever owned; extremely fast. Love using Logos on this machine. The battery lasts forever.
