L/V 10+ Tip of the Day #182 Open resource on the left

Another tip of the day (TOTD) series for Logos/Verbum 10. They will be short and often drawn from forum posts. Feel free to ask questions and/or suggest forum posts you'd like to see included. Adding comments about the behavior on mobile and web apps would be appreciated by your fellow forumites. Regarding the issue of the Bible opening on the right on a blank screen when you want it on the left.

Instead of opening it by clicking it. Left click it and drag it to where you want it then release it.

I would think that users want to open more than 1 resource from a blank screen. So why not FIRST select the resource you want on the RHS then select a resource you want on the LHS? After that, you get the relatively random choice of sides imposed by Logos, or you select & drag to the required location.

If necessary, you can select full screen from the Layouts menu (top left) after opening the first resource.

Probably a good work around....

but it would be nice to have resources to automatically load left to right just like we read in the great USA! I have never understood why Logos loads from Right to Left... Are they some foreign company or something? [:D]

Don't assume everyone lays things out like you. For me, having the commentary to the left of the Bible is natural because on a desk with books, I would put the Bible in the center, paper for notes on the right (I never write in Bibles - I find it disrespectful), and commentary on the left. Because I am right handed and don't write in Bibles, this is natural for me. I know that this is not everyone's setup but it makes sense to me.

Another tip: set up a simple layout that has your preferred Bible on the left and whatever else you want (or nothing) on the right. Save the layout and put an icon for it in your shortcuts bar. Then whenever you want to yet started with your preferred Bible on the left simply click that shortcut icon. It's a simple, straight-forward solution and the navigation box in your preferred Bible will even be highlighted so that you can simply enter the book, chapter, and verse.
