It accidently went on the left side and I'd like to change it back.
Also, how do I slow the scroll speed. It skips lines when I scroll at present.
Thank you
Hi Valerie:
Click in the box to the right of the Logos logo and type 'show program settings' and press Enter. In the second choice on that screen, 'Application Toolbar Location', choose 'Top'.
Your scroll speed issue is a function of your operating system. Let us know what your operating system and version number is and someone will be ble to tell you how to fix that.
Robert is correct that scroll speed is a function of the operating system. However, users frequently get confused by "scrolling view" and "column view." Make sure in the resource in question, columns are set to "none." See if that makes a difference.
I have a similar problem. I purchased Logos 9 when it was new but didn't get very far in learning it because of a lack of understanding of some fundamentals (very fundamental!). For example, I found the "Intro to Logos 9" tutorial but I cannot get anywhere with it because the tool bar in the tutorial is different from mine. The answer for Valerie doesn't help me. I have attached a screenshot showing (top half) the view of the toolbar in the tutorial and (bottom half) my toolbar. Without the same starting point, I cannot seem to make progress. I would appreciate you or someone pointing me to the same starting point of the tutorial. Thanks
Welcome William! Sorry you are having toubles. [:s]
I found the "Intro to Logos 9" tutorial but I cannot get anywhere with it because the tool bar in the tutorial is different from mine.
An intro tutorial for an old version of the software may not be your best choice. Here is a link to offical training pages:
https://support.logos.com/hc/en-us/categories/360000675231-Logos-Training
If you have questions after viewing those pages, please create a new thread and explain your issue clearly.
Also: when posting a screenshot, you will need to use the paperclip icon. You can't paste the screenshot into the editor.
I have attached a screenshot showing (top half) the view of the toolbar in the tutorial and (bottom half) my toolbar.
Welcome [:D]
Pasting image into forum editor allows image to be seen on your computer, but not by others. Attaching image file (paperclip OR amber) allows others to view.

Thanks, but your link leads to everything about Logos 10. I will not be upgrading to Logos 10 until I am making better use of the money I have already spent on Logos 9.
Is there any particular reason why the present use of the tutorials for that version doesn't make sense?
Thanks too for the point about attaching something. I'm hoping the attachment (now correctly attached, I hope!) makes clear how simple and fundamental my question is. Stated again, the tutorial shows a toolbar as in the top whereas mine is shown as in the bottom of the screenshot.
As I said before, without a common starting point, nothing afterwards helps any.
Thanks again.

The software is free. FL has done away with keeping the software versions in sync with the Libraries & feature set naming conventions. In other words, there is no longer an "L10" software engine. As of today, the current version is Logos 25.1. Unless your computer can't run the app, you should download it and keep up to date with the software.
the tutorial shows a toolbar as in the top whereas mine is shown as in the bottom of the screenshot.
If your software is showing the menu as shown on the bottom, you are using some variant of the L10 (or newer) engine.
without a common starting point, nothing afterwards helps any.
I know this must be frustrating. Here is my understanding of the issue: You purchased "Logos 9" and have videos and tutorials for that version of the software. However, much has changed since then, and your current software is different than what you are seeing in those videos and tutorials.
If that is the case, my suggestion is that we 1) make sure you properly update your software and 2) help you find up to date videos and tutorials. Can you verify which version of the engine you are running?
As for videos and tutorials, what would you like to do with the software? Do you want a "starters guide?"
Stated again, the tutorial shows a toolbar as in the top whereas mine is shown as in the bottom of the screenshot.
That means you have the latest software and NOT Logos 9.
You can work thru https://wiki.logos.com/Table_of_Contents as it relates to the functions that are available (though you may not have full access to some of the latest features). Some are documented by the user wiki and others are referred to Faithlife training pages.
If you have the Courses tool it may direct you to "Quickstart for Logos 10" if you type quickstart in the Find box at the top.
All of the elements in the tutorial are still present in the new toolbar, however some changed position and changed from having a text label to having an icon. If you hover your mouse pointer over each of the icons, you should get a tooltip with a label that will help you match up the corresponding portions of the toolbar.
Thanks SO much for offering help.
Yes, it is confusing and frustrating because with respect to all other computer software I use, from consumer stuff like Office to developer IDE's like Posit (for R and Python), I stay up to date. I don't with Logos because it appears to me that "upgrading" costs something and it is not trivial.
For example, www.logos.com/ten takes me a page where" Download Logos" appears; but it is for new users. Other options include "Help me choose" and "Compare packages". Not applicable. The big headline is "Save on Logos 10", but again, I don't want to spend more yet. When I in the desktop app and I select "About Logos Bible Software", I see "Get a Logos 10 feature set" and "Get a Logos 10 library". When I select the former, the min cost is $205. When I select the latter, the cost ranges to about $1,400. (To answer one of your questions, I have v25.1.53).
Can you provide a link for the free upgrade you speak about? And what terminology does Logos use for this type of upgrade?
Yes, I probably need a starters guide, even though I have been using Logos literally since the beginning (when they sent out CDs to load the library), I recognized that I was only scratching the surface of what Logos could do. (I am a lay teacher, so can't spend inordinate hours on this). But it was about a year ago that I upgraded to Platinum when v9 was current, thinking that if I make a financial commitment, I'll work hard at getting better using it. But I really haven't made any progress, despite the increased effort, so I am committed not to spend more until I do. So yes, I'll go through a "starters guide" if that is what I need to do to get a better foundation.
Again, I thank you. You don't appear to be an employee of Logos, which likely means you volunteer to do this on your time. I am very grateful.

Hi Bill
You are actually using the latest version of the software.
In Logos 9 - and before - to get the latest version we had to “purchase it” even if we chose the option to “purchase” a free engine upgrade.
With the rollout of Logos 10, the policy has changed enabling all users to have the latest version of software automatically, now at 25.1 and the software version number is disconnected from whatever base packages / feature sets we have purchased.
If we want the updated features or resources that are bundled in Logos 10 feature upgrades or libraries, they are things we need to purchase.
I hope this helps clarify a little
Graham

As Graham said, you are currently "up to date."
Admittedly, Faithlife confused things by naming the software the same as new purchases (Libraries and Feature Sets). However, their policy has always been that the software is free. Faithlife is making an attempt to eliminate some of the confusion by disassociating the software naming scheme (currenly v.25.1.x) from the libraries and feature sets (currently "Logos 10."). This change has been confusing to some in the short term, but will be helpful in the long term so that people will not equate updates to their software (free) with the libraries and feature sets (paid).
You don't appear to be an employee of Logos, which likely means you volunteer to do this on your time. I am very grateful.
You are welcome. The forum members with "star" icons are "Logos MVP's," and yes, we volunteer our time. There are many more users, however, who volunteer and help make the forums a good environment.
Yes, I probably need a starters guide,
I would start with the links below. The MP Seminars link is from long time Logos trainer Morris Proctor, who passed away recently. I believe the link I provided is free training, but they have more in depth training you can pay for. There are other companies who provide training as well.

Wow! I don't want to think about all the time I have wasted on this. But again thank you both in general and for the links.
And thanks, too, to the others who replied!
You are welcome! The forums are here to help… Don’t hesitate To ask.
