Trying to reinstall Logos on my new SSD drive. (Drive E:)

I previously had Logos 10 installed on my Windows 11 Pro computer on drive C:. I bought a new SSD drive and it is installed as E: drive. I created a Program Files directory on drive E:. Then I uninstall Logos. Then I reinstalled Logos on drive E: in the Program Files directory as Administrator. It completed installation with no errors. When I start Logos I get the standard start screen, but it disappears, and nothing happens. I even looked in the Task Manager and I did not see the Logos program. Does anyone know what is wrong?

I bought a new SSD drive and it is installed as E: drive. I created a Program Files directory on drive E:. Then I uninstall Logos. Then I reinstalled Logos on drive E: in the Program Files directory as Administrator.

Logos does not require Admin permission to install and it will create problems later on. Nor does it require a Program Files folder for a custom install. So:

uninstall Logos
remove the Program Files folder you created for it
specify a Custom install and choose the E: drive

it will be installed as E:\Logos

Yes, I had exactly the same issue for years: Logos is unsupported when installed on an external drive.

If you check the official hardware requirements, it says must be installed on an internal drive.

I think you may be able to use the external drive to store your library by setting that up in the custom install, but the Logos app itself must be installed internally for it to launch.

This is true, but it just means that Customer Service most probably won't help you with technical issues

That's not true - the app will run just fine from an external SSD, provided it is NTFS-formatted - rather than ExFAT which is what most of them are when you buy them. In fact, im running the Verbum flavor of the Logos app right now on an external SSD (under Windows 10).

Apologies, I'm just going by my own experience several years back:

I had Logos installed on an external drive and it was working until one update, after which it failed to work thereafter.

Following a long conversation with support, they eventually said it wasn't supported when installed on an external drive, and shortly afterwards, I noticed they updated the official hardware requirements to say the same thing.

Every now and then, I tried to reinstall it under the same setup, but got the same issue in your original post, where the app would appear to start and then immediately shut down again.

It's only in the last couple of weeks since I bought a new MacBook and installed Logos on the internal drive that I finally have a working desktop edition of the software. YMMV.
