Reclaiming the Lost Art of Biblical Meditation: Find True Peace in Jesus

Lee Murdoch here, from Tasmania, Australia.

I pray this finds you well.

I wonder if you could help me? I am seeking to purchase a copy of "Reclaiming the Lost Art of Biblical Meditation" by Robert J Morgan. I have a copy in my kindle, however Kindle and Logos, don't interact well during study. Unfortunately the Logos website informs me that I am unable to purchase this title in Australia (or in my location).

I was wondering is there someone I can ask for this to be reconsidered? eg publishers? if so who might you suggest?

Also, I am traveling to the United States in December 2023 to spend Christmas in Hawaii with family. Is it possible for me to purchase the ebook while I am traveling?

Any help you can give me, I would be most grateful.

When you come to Hawaii, your internet access location will change to the US, and you should be able to purchase it then (if it's available in the US). I suppose using a VPN would also allow you to purchase it, but I've never used one; you would have to look into that on your own.

I don't think that the Logos store is using the IP geolocation to decide (but it could well be). If I remember correct, other forum users pointed to the simple address field we have in our profiles. Maybe this needs to show US - or both.

From a personal view, I absolutely hate it that some publishers play this game (and have the copyright laws written to support this and other ugly things) but so far I was not willing to lie about my address in order to circumvent it. I try to refrain from rewarding those companies for their actions.

Logos determines access based on the credit card address, so visiting the USA doesn't help unfortunately.

Yes, that's the one showing publisher decided not to sell to me or anyone else outside North America (maybe even outside the US).

I noticed that this resource has the digital group option. If I were to start a group (virtual) and purchase 5 copies, but one of the members lived in a country where the resource was not available, I guessing that the resource could not be given to them?

The basic question is always what rights did the author sell to the publisher/what rights does the publisher own? If the publishers are holding the rights to a larger market, one may mount a pressure campaign for them to change their marketing strategy to reflect the more integrated world. If the publishers don't own the rights, they would have to renegotiate with the author or their estate (or other copyright holder).

This is a Thomas Nelson eBook and HCCP, i.e. HarperCollins Christian Publishing, the publisher who owns Thomas Nelson and Zondervan, being the "Christian" arm of one of the largest global publishers, doesn't want to sell eBooks to international customers through Faithlife. This is the case since some years now. It's not some misguided author or their clueless estate, it's a big publishing powerhouse (one of those who want to bring the Internet Archive down) playing their games.

Thank you for pointing out this resource. I'm going to buy the book. However, i'd recommend against anyone buying the audio. It's only 54 minutes long, consisting of Robert Morgan reading a verse and then a few minutes of piano, and for that 54 minutes, Logos is charging $11 ! You can get the exact same audiobook from Audible for $7, but even so, that's too much for someone to just read a verse and then listen to a piano for a few minutes. I'm familiar with Robert Morgan because of Morris Proctor, so i'll get the ebook in Logos. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

John - Thanks. I listen to most of my audio books through Audible. I've had a subscription with them for years. But it sounds like I will pass on this one.
