Justification and its impact on Christians

I have to think about whether justification entails a genuine shift or transformation of the believer or if it is merely an external pronouncement on God's part for a 5 to 8 page research paper this week. Although I need to research this in academic literature, I believe it to be a genuine change. Any suggestions?

What exactly is "Justification" is debated among Christians, with different traditions coming at the question and terminology from different directions. Some ways to approach this would be to look at the Greek and Hebrew words commonly translated as "Justify" or "Justification". Other ways are to look at how the Reformers and Rome took this in different directions, and how this can shape theology today. Because this has been an ecumenical dividing line, there have been significant studies as part of the ecumenical movement.

But to even recommend specific resources would be farther from the forum guidelines than I want to go...
