How do I determine the words that mean Holy Spirit or allude to the Holy Spirit in the Gospel of John?
I know I'm being difficult, but a deterministic 'determine' isn't possible. Paraclete as an example.
You might try a fuzzy search for the "Holy Spirit". I got 53 hits in 19 verses using the ESV.
Try a Search for (person:"Holy Spirit" NOT INTERSECTS (Spirit OR "Holy Spirit")) INTERSECTS morph.g:N with Match case
It looks for Nouns that are referents for the person "Holy Spirit", but ignoring the obvious names.
There's a chapter in All the Divine Names and Titles in the Bible by Herbert Lockyer called "The Names and Titles of God the Spirit". There are lots of references to the Book of John in that chapter.
Hi Rosie
Is it possible for you to scan pages of that book chapter?
If you don't own the resource mentioned by Rosie, please run the search offered by Dave. If you wish to be an academic you don't want to get too dependent on others' works and therefore, perpetuate others' errors in your own work. Hi Rosie Is it possible for you to scan pages of that book chapter?
No, Christian. I bought that book, and owning it gives me certain rights but not the right to share large chunks of it with someone else. Find it in a research library and ask them to do that for you. Or buy the book yourself. I included a link to it for that reason.
please run the search offered by Dave
Alternatively, Factbook offers

The Greek and Translated As sections are useful, as you can open the passages in your bible and select the book of John.
