Hey Mark Barnes - Combine Documents and Passage Lists

I think "Documents" and "Passage Lists", in reality, serve the same purpose and could be combined into one function.

So combine the two functions and add the ability to have "headings" as in documents and add ability to have a note within the document.

I know as I write this some will disagree... but just stop and think about it.  It really makes sense.

I think this would help to have less "bloat" in Logos software. Geeked

Wow, xnman, you went right over my head.

On my version of Logos/Verbum, Passage Lists are included in Documents.

You must be talking about something else in Logos?

Yes they are listed in "Documents" correcto.......  but they do work a bit differently.... for example.... you can have headings in "Documents" but not in a "Passage List" and "Passage Lists" show up in phone app.... but "Documents" don't....

I'm afraid I'm struggling - in a similar way to DMB - to understand what you are suggesting here.

A Passage List is a type of document as is, for example a Sermon document.

There is no separate Document type called Document. Can you give an example of what you are referring to when you talk about Documents?

but they do work a bit differently.

There is no such thing as "document" on the desktop. There is a class of things called "documents" which can be created in the documents menu:

    • bibliography
    • canvas
    • clippings
    • homily (sermon)
    • morph query
    • passage list
    • prayer list
    • reading plan
    • sentence diagram
    • syntax search
    • visual filter
    • word find puzzle
    • word list
    • and some additional documents that must be initiated in other specific tools:
      • notebook
      • book collection

We have the ability to add headings to a passage list. We do not have the ability to add notes to it.  But as far as I recall, the only "document" to which we can add notes is the Personal Book. Which document within Logos has features you wish to add to the Passage list?

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

I'm afraid that went right over my head too. Also not sure why it's specifically directed to Mark Barnes. He's a former MVP who now works for the company, but I don't know that he has any more sway over what new features get put in the product than anyone else. Typically the best way to get your suggestions considered is to add a feature suggestion on the Logos Desktop App (or Logos Mobile App) feedback board, and drum up votes for it on the Suggestions forum. But it would help to clarify exactly what you're asking for first, so carrying on with this thread until that's cleared up is as good a place as any.

Sorry...my "Coming in the NT" PL starts with two headings and others are not shown.

Other Documents do not have headings...

"Passage Lists" show up in phone app.... but "Documents" don't....

Both show up in the Faithlife EBooks app (Android) with PL being listed under Documents as in desktop app.

Well... guess I didn't understand Passage Lists as much as I thought I did. Sorry bout that.
