Drop down: article, book, chapter, verse, annotation

When in a commentary's tab, just above the text on the top right, there is a drop down menu where you can select article, book, chapter, verse, or annotation. What does this do?

You'll notice that next to that drop down menu are up and down arrows. By clicking those you can navigate quickly through the text by article (designated usually by larger text) verse, etc.

Oh my goodness, I've been making search harder than it needs to be. I generally just use the link set with the bible to get to the right spot, then turn off to scroll manually. Thanks! That will be helpful.
