As requested by Andrew, here is info on another crash when adding a note:

  1. Open NIV84
  2. Select some text
  3. Right click, ensure Selection is checked
  4. Click  Add a Note
  5. Notes tool begins to open but the app crashes

Here is the log:

I thought you told me in the other thread that this crash happen if the Notes tool was already open. The steps and log you have posted here are a match for the other thread, and can be worked around by opening the Notes tool before adding the note.

Here are the different setups and results:

Scenario 1) Open Bible, highlight text in Bible, add Note (without notes tool open) => crash

Scenario2) Open Bible, open notes tool, highlight text in Bible, add Note => No crash

Scenario 3) Open complex layout with Bible on one screen, notes tool open on a different screen (floating window), then highlight text in the Bible, add Note => window with notes becomes active window, then Logos crashes.

My logs were taken in Scenario 3.

If the Notes panel that is already open is not filtered to the Notebook that the note will be added to, then a new instance of the Notes panel will be open (filtered to that Notebook). This means that it is actually the same issue as your scenario 1, which does turn out to be the other case. Try this workaround to confirm.

Open your layout with the Notes tool on a different screen. Select the notebook where the new highlight will be added. Select the text and create the highlight. See if this resolves the crash.

    Hi Andrew,

Open your layout with the Notes tool on a different screen. Select the notebook where the new highlight will be added. Select the text and create the highlight. See if this resolves the crash.

Yes, you are correct: If I add the new note to an open notebook, then Logos does not crash.
