cross references for Greek Bibles

I can’t believe that I am writing this.

I have a print Greek New Testament. It has cross references and an index of references to the Septuagint.

I need/want to find all the places in the New Testament that alludes to or quotes the Old Testament, specifically the book of Genesis. Apparently I can’t do that in Logos. I have to do that by hand from a print Bible.

Am I the first person who ever wanted to do this?

So my suggestion: reproduce the cross references and indices in the Greek New Testaments.

Larry, the NAxx series have always had the 'OT Quotation' search field. That's likely why you haven't seen complaints. I'm not a sercher, nor following your other thread, except my other note.

I didn't answer this because I thought you wanted only LXX references not Masoretic references which you can't do in Logos; if you mean any OT reference there are several easy solutions starting with the interactive New Testament Use of the Old Testament ... I'll provide a full answer if that is what you want.

Somebody already suggested that. Now I have a print Greek Testament, and the very first example of a cross reference was in the print Bible but not in Logos. Would you consider Genesis 1.1 and John 1.1 a cross reference? I am looking for allusions to the lxx in the Greek NT. The interactive seems to have a narrower focus. So it doesn't help me

Question: We do cross references for English Bibles. Why should Greek Bibles be any different? Should I have to open an English Bible to find cross references for my Greek Bible? I think a Greek Bible may pick up more hits, because it's looking more at the underlying text.

So now I am working on a lesson for a class, and I have to look up each passage in my Greek Testament and my lxx to evaluate the passages, using the references in my print Bible. I thought Logos was supposed to replace my print library and save me this work.

This is not a strange request.

what OT quote search field? I am looking for more than OT quotes. I am looking for passages that the NT writer wrote that the lxx influenced his wording. john 1.1 is not an OT quotation, but I would say John had Gen 1.1 in mind and it influenced what he wrote.

On the very first passage, it missed it.

John 1.1 isn't quoting Genesis 1.1, but I believe John wrote what he wrote because of Gen 1.1 I believe it influenced his choice of words. My print Greek Bible has that as a cross reference. That is what I am looking for.

My goal is to see how the lxx helps us in interpreting the NT and to see lxx influences on the NT both for work meanings and overall understanding of a passage.

Larry, to repeat from your other thread, the Logos NA28 has the cross-references. I pulled up John 1:1 and it points to Gen 1:1 as in your hardcopy, as below.

- Per the notes in your NA28, "References to the Old Testament assume the text as well as the chapter and verse numbers of Biblia Hebraica when not otherwise indicated." Meaning not inherently the LXX.

- Searching for direct LXX usage requires searching for '𝔊' (another if Alexandrinus only)
